I legit just heard this from an Elise Ecklund video a few years ago, so if I got some details wrong, I'm sorry, at everyone.
Also, this is kind of long so grab your movie snacks and lets go.
One rainy night in October, A girl named Beth and her family were chilling indoors, celebrating her 9th birthday. While Beth was opening her presents, she found one present from her parents, which she decided to open up. She found an expensive-looking doll inside, which stood about 2ft tall. Although it was a gift, it seemed off in some way. It's black, lifeless eyes were unsettling to Beth. She then noticed the note the doll came with, it read; "Her name is Molly, passed on from your great grandmother." An unsettling thought came over Beth. Giving the doll a name just made it seem more real, which Beth did not want. Also, the fact that the doll was older than her, and the fact that it was passed on from a dead relative, really did not sit right with Beth. She just brushed the feeling off, she thought, "it's just a doll, it can't hurt me, what's the worst that can happen?" So, in an attempt to fully send that chilling feeling of dread away, she shoved the doll into a box, and closed it in the closet under the stairs, just in case. That night, while she was trying to fall asleep in her bed, upstairs, she heard some shuffling downstairs, and then the creak of a door start to open. She grabbed her blankets, and listen very closely to the noise, the sound of a light pattering was resonating in her room, but it sounded like it was coming from downstairs. Then, Beth heard a voice from that same spot of the tapping. "Beth... Beth... " She froze. Her heart was beginning to beat faster now. She heard it again, "Beth... Beth... I'm on the first step, I'm on the second step..." She pulled the covers over her head in pure terror. Her heart was pounding now. She then heard footsteps, the thing was retreating back to where it came from. She couldn't sleep the rest of the night. The thought of Molly, her doll, being alive was enough to terrify her.
The next day, Beth tried to explain what happened the night before, they just brushed it off, and assumed she just had a nightmare. They then sent her off to school. When she came home, she opened the box she'd stuffed Molly in the night before. Molly was still there, in all her disgusting horribleness. Bedtime came, and Beth unwillingly climbed into her bed and began to lay down. An unknown amount of time passed and she was woken up by the sound of quick footsteps coming up the stairs. The same voice she'd heard the night before rang out again, but this time it said; "Beth... Beth... I'm on the third step, I'm on the fourth step." It sounded like Molly had retreated, but Beth was still in bed, paralyzed in fear. Once again, she didn't sleep.
The next morning, Beth checked the box that she'd stuffed Molly in, once again, and the doll was still there. Then it hit her. If Molly was climbing 2 stairs per night, it was only a matter of time before Molly reached her bedroom. Once again, while Beth was tucked away in her bed, the voice called again, "Beth... Beth... I'm on the 5th step. I'm on the 6th step." Another sleepless night came over Beth, totaling 3 nights without sleep. She began to worry even more now, as there were only 2 more steps until the top. What would happen when Molly would reach the top? She then thought to herself, "I'm probably just dreaming." But she knew well enough that she was awake and conscious throughout all of these nightly occurrences, because she hadn't slept for 3 days.
The sun set once more, and Beth lay in bed, swaddled up tightly in her blankets, waiting in fear for Molly's voice. She had waited for hours and hours, but to no avail. She was beginning to become heavy eyed, and drifted halfway to sleep. Then a sound had awakened her. The voice of the demon that kept her up all these nights. "Beth... Beth... I'm on the 7th step, I'm on the last step." Beth was horrified now. Molly had reached the top. She could hear her heart banging around inside her. She waited for that blessed sound of footsteps retreating. But it never came. She waited a little longer. Nothing. The voice then rang out, "Beth... Beth... I'm in the hallway. I'm outside your door. I'm in your bedroom. I'M BY YOUR BEDSIDE.
The next morning... her parents walked into Beth's bedroom. What they saw, terrified them. Beth was lying on her bed, with the doll right next to her.

Beth instantly thought that the doll was really unsettling but also thought that it couldnt do anything bad to her because it was just a doll.
But, at night, she heard footsteps downstairs and then heard a voice saying "Beth... Beth... I'm on the first step, I'm on the second step...", she got scared and couldnt sleep the whole night.
the second and third night the same happened, Molly walked two steps every night.
The last night, Beth was about to fall asleep and then heard "Beth... Beth... I'm on the 7th step, I'm on the last step." and a long time later she finally heard "Beth... Beth... I'm in the hallway. I'm outside your door. I'm in your bedroom. I'M BY YOUR BEDSIDE."
and the next day her parents saw Beth lying on her bed with the doll right next to her so I guess she died.
TL;DR of the TL;DR:
Beth gets killed by her great grandmother's doll after 3 nights of hearing the doll walking up to her bedroom
-You said Beth 29 times in the story and said Beth another 1 time in this comment
-I said Beth 11 times in my TL;DR comment
-and Wizcraft said Beth 1 time in his comment
and in this comment I said Beth 6 times counting this one
