I Really Friggen Love My Pop-up Toaster
A "love" poem I made in a few hours with a lot of Google searching to find words that actually rhyme
Also the toaster shown above is my toaster
I wake up feeling exhausted, wondering if school will ever end,
Yesterday was long and hard, but luckily today's a weekend.
Through the wall I hear an alarm clock's beep,
But my parents are still very much asleep.
I'm hungry for breakfast, but what can I make?
It's not like I can cook, grill, fry, or bake...
But then an idea pops into my head,
Oh I know! I can cook some bread!
I head to the kitchen, half asleep but with a plan.
I'm gonna make breakfast, and not with a pan.

On top of the fridge, I can see it right there,
My beautiful pop-up toaster is here.
2 holes, 2 buttons, a lever and a dial,
All for 12 bucks in a grocery store aisle.
I put it on the counter and head to the pantry,
Looking for bread and maybe some cutlery.
I grab a fresh bag, full, plain and white,
Yes it's Wonder bread, no stupid comments or we'll fight.
Down goes the lever after dropping in some bread,
And when it comes up I must be ready, I think ahead.
Around and around the kitchen I quickly go,
For a plate, butter, jelly, spoon, knife, and fork... wait, no
Once I'm ready, I sit down and wait,
Admiring the toaster, letting the sun aluminate.
The smell is rather questionable,
A bit like burnt crisps and flammable.
But my thoughts are interrupted when the toaster makes a ding,
And out comes the toast, hot, crisp, and gold as a king.
Quickly I grab it and toss it to my plate,
Spread the butter and slather the jelly, I cannot be late.
I work and work as fast as I can,
If the toast gets cold I'll have to start again.
Both slices are ready and I now can eat,
I hope the toasting process, I don't have to repeat.
As I'm enjoying my perfect toast, I stare at the beautiful bread roaster,
I realize that I really friggen love my pop-up toaster.
