This tutorial might just be too old now, so if it doesn't work, I'm sorry!
This blog is on the top of the Google search results for "mcpatcher tutorial"! thanks guys!
Today I'll show you how to use and install MCPatcher, it's quite simple.
How To Install MCPatcher 1. Google MCPatcher and open the top link (usually MinecraftDL) and scroll down the page, it should say Download MCPatcher for 1.7.9 or whichever the current Minecraft version is, click that link, then find the DLL (Download link) 2. When download is complete, drag MCPatcher out of your download folder and onto your desktop. 3. Double-click MCPatcher to run 4. Click patch when you have added your texture/mod. (read on)
For Texture Packs. Texture packs will say "This texture pack requires MCPatcher of Optifine (a very useful mod, get it)". 1. Download the texture pack you want. 2. Click your windows button, then type in %appdata% and hit enter. find .minecraft and open that. (I advise right-clicking and creating a shortcut on the desktop for easy access). Find the "resource packs" folder and put you texture pack in there. 3. Run MCPatcher 4. Click "Patch" 5. Run Minecraft
For Mods 1. Download your mod 2. open .minecraft > bin > minecraft / minecraft.jar > open with > WinRAR/7zip > delete the META-INF folder > open your mod file, drag and drop all the files into the bin folder. (Doesn't work for all mods, be sure to watch an installation tutorial). 3. open the MCPatcher and hit Patch 4. Play Minecraft
Mods: Method Two 1. Download mod. 2. Run MCPatcher 3. Click "add" or the "+" button, find your mod file, and click "add". This doesn't work for some mods, but does for TooManyItems, Rei Minimap, etc.
NOTE: this method works for some mods only, you may need Modloader and and other programs like that. If MCPatcher didn't work for your mod, google "How to install Flan's gun mod" for example.
Mods: Install MagicLauncher, then install your mods with that, so simple! No minecraft.jar or anything needed, just click the buttons...
WARNING!
If you patch when you have a mod installed, the mod WILL be removed (unless you've installed it with the Patcher). All your achievements will be removed too.
