Hello ladies and gentlem- (oh look a butterfly)
Today I'll be talking about the decline of good Minecraft servers.
I remember when I first started playing Minecraft, back in the good ol' Beta days, the first server I ever played on. It was one of my friend's servers that he hosted on his computer, and I got on and he trolled me by using MobDisguise to disguise himself as a pig and shoot arrows at me. I, meanwhile, was freaking out, trying to figure out why something kept hitting me out of nowhere. It was good fun, back when Minecraft was simple. Now, more and more, I see servers that aren't up for you to have fun, but rather to spend money. They make the default gameplay really hard so that you'll go buy their $30 donation packages, and then make the server even worse, with overpowered people flying around and causing chaos.
Then, you get the servers that are run by small children. With names such as BeastModeCraft or BossCraft, these endless faction/PvP servers seem to only exist to clutter up Minecraft server sites. Typically, their server listing looks something like this:
What happened to the small community, free of McMMO and Factions? I hope you're asking the same question.

The first rank was:
be on for 2 hours, mine 640 stone, and kill 50(or something) monsters.
the next rank was all that but doubled and so on.
the funny thing is, it was in a vanilla server and everything was done by command blocks!
Take this blue rock I mysteriously made with coal :D
