CRAFTVERSE Short Story 1: Experiment No. 167
"Experiment No. 166, failed."
A crackle and a hiss. There was a whirring noise as a dark figure flicked some switches and turned some knobs.
"Commencing Experiment No. 167. All systems ready. Generator power: 85%. Proceeding..."
There was a pause and the very air seemed to be holding their breath. And they would be right to do so. What they were doing here is pushing the technology of their universe to the very limit. One fail, and the whole thing can collapse. Not only would their world cease to exist, the unstable energy would cause a rift through time and space and shred their universe to pieces.
A beam of white energy blasted from the ceiling. It landed on the floor and casted a glow across the room. The tendrils of energy started to creep along pre-built wires and reached the center of the projector. With a deafening roar, a shake and a blinding flash, the projector blasted out the energy.
The dark figure let out a sigh of content. "Experiment No. 167, successful."
Behind him, more silhouettes started to gather. However, in the dim glow, they didn't look human at all.
The dark figure pressed a button, and the energy that the projector blasted out solidified into a rectangle, then started to transform. Inside the square, a view started to appear until it was as clear as the sky. A portal was formed.
Inside, players were firing at undeads, unaware of the new threat that had just entered their world.
A sword in one hand and a staff in the other, he marches through the portal. Behind him, his army followed. Zombies, skeletons, creepers, spiders and much, much more.
The dark figure smiled. His time had come. The first server will fall. The others will soon be next.
The fall of Moblock will be the first step to a brand new victory. A brand new age.
