Alright, so as most of you may already know, Mojang added banners today! And I'm here to give you a tutorial on just a few special patterns.
Okay, so what I'm going to teach you to craft are the flags of my people. Some of you may know that my Minecraft/PMC username is just a gag, and that I'm NOT ACTUALLY Chilean. So then, what am I? Well, you'll see as you learn to make some kick-butt flags. (These are sideways flags, by the way)
Ireland:
1. Start with a white flag.
2. In the 3x3 crafting square, put 3 cactus green along the top, from the upper left to right, with the banner anywhere in the grid.
3. Do the same as above, but with 3 orange dye along the bottom.
Germany:
1. Start with a red flag.
2. Along the right side of the grid, place 3 ink sacs, from the upper right corner to lower.
3. Along the left side of the grid do the same thing, but with dandelion yellow this time.
France:
For this one, just do the same thing as with Ireland, but with lapiz lazuli in place of cactus green, and rose red in place of the orange dye.
Spain:
1. Start with a yellow flag.
2. Along the right side of the crafting grid, place three rose red.
3. Repeat step 2, with the rose red on the LEFT side this time.
Hungary:
1. Start with a white flag.
2. This step is the same as step 2 of Spain.
3. Place 3 cactus green going down the left side of the crafting grid.
Britain:
Now, this one is quite complicated, so just bear with me here. These steps MUST be followed in order (with the exception of steps 2 and 3, which are interchangeable with each other), or it won't turn out the best it possibly can. Oh, and this should go without saying, but remember to keep the banner in the crafting grid while making patterns, okay?
1. Start with a blue flag.
2. Place 3 bone meal in a diagonal line from the upper left corner to the lower right.
3. Place 3 bone meal in a diagonal line from the upper right corner to the lower left.
4. Create an "X" shape with rose red.
5. Place 3 bone meal in a vertical line in the center of the crafting grid.
6. Place 3 bone meal in a horizontal line in the center of the crafting grid.
7. Create a "+" shape with rose red.
Other Flags:
Okay, so I may add to this part from time to time.
American Flag:
The American flag reflects the fact that I'm an American-born citizen, along with the fact that it is both one of the more popular flags, and probably represents the majority of people on the internet. Don't quote me on that.
1. Start with a RED flag, NOT A WHITE ONE. If you use white, the outer stripes (which are red in real life) will be white.
2. Create two parallel lines of bone meal, one on from the upper left corner to the center left, and the other from the upper right corner to the center right,
3. In the upper right corner, place 1 lapis lazuli.
Portugal:
This one's for you, Clunkes!
1. Start with a red flag.
2. Line 3 cactus green along the top row of the crafting grid.
3. Place an oxeye daisy and dandelion yellow anywhere in the grid (along with the flag, of course).
4. Place 3 rose red along the bottom row of the crafting grid.
Japan (C'mon guys, do you REALLY need this?):
Take a white banner, throw it in a crafting grid, and slap a rose red in the middle.
And now...
...a bonus.

Sweden:
Now, Sweden is this little place over in Europe and there are these guys over there that made this little game that I like. It's called Minecraft. I dunno, maybe you've heard of it. If you haven't, well, that's okay. I mean, I guess it's not for everyone. It's not that popular right now, but you know, it's getting there. I think it's pretty fun, though.
1. Start with a cyan flag.
2. Place 6 dandelion yellow in the top 2 rows of the crafting table.
3. Place 1 cyan dye in the upper right-hand corner.
4. Place 1 cyan dye in the upper left-hand corner.

Voila! [s]IIII[/s] [s]IIII[/s] [s]IIII[/s] III (yeah, I'm using tally marks now) awesome flags are now yours. Most of them were pretty self explanatory, but the Union Jack (British flag) took a bit of effort and experimentation to get just right. I hope you enjoyed!

And now...
...a bonus.
For fellow fans of the manga and anime, Attack on Titan (aka Shingeki no Kyojin), I have done my best to create a banner based on the official poster, and I think I did a pretty good job. Unfortunately, this banner can't be crafted. However, I do have a command for it:
/give [playername] minecraft:banner 1 0 {BlockEntityTag:{Base:0,Patterns:[{Pattern:flo,Color:15},{Pattern:ts,Color:14},{Pattern:ls,Color:14},{Pattern:rs,Color:14},{Pattern:sku,Color:1},{Pattern:hhb,Color:3},{Pattern:gru,Color:14},{Pattern:gra,Color:8}]}}
Just throw that into a command block (but remember to change "[playername]" to your username), hit a switch, and you'll be good to go.
