Disclaimer: You will need to install OptiFine to take full advantage of this pack's features. That is all.
The changelog ☝ https://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=UaZIwpllhkI&list=PLO6GPyTLxi6tpgNiGLoKuTFc-dggL3w-O&index=1
Mickey Joe's "Barely Default" is a pack I made initially just for personal use. At one point I made a Reddit post with a screenshot of what I had made. The post got a surprising amount of satisfying feedback so I decided to try to turn my work into an actual pack. Which you can play with! or don't. I can't tell you what to do
Everything in this pack is free to use for whatever you want. I can't take credit for the textures, as they're based on textures Mojang made. for more info on redistribution, check out this document I wrote up.
For a comprehensive visual guide to all the armour sets my resource pack adds to your game, check out this other document.
👉 if you're a nerd and prefer to read, here's a very comprehensible (and equally fun) changelog I've kept over the past few years.

66 Update Logs
Update #66 : by MushirMickeyJoe 05/06/2024 2:48:45 pmMay 6th
Version 12.7 - Released 🎉
- Added sconces for a few more items:
- Nether brick
- Popped chorus fruit
- Packed mud
- Obsidian
- Lapis lazuli
- Netherite scrap
- Terracotta and all its colours.
- Concrete in all its colours.
- You can now also rename a copper ingot and prefix the name with one of the oxidation states of copper.
So you can now rename a copper ingot to: - Sconce
- Exposed Sconce
- Weathered Sconce
- Oxidized Sconce
Version 12.6 - Released 🎉
- Changed the name of the “Brazier” to “Sconce”.
- Added sconces for all wood types! Happy sconcing!
- Also for a bunch of stone types! These are a bit thicker than the wooden sconces, in line with how walls are thicker than fences.
- Removed my custom dye textures. Sorry, colourblind people.
- Added sconces for all the dyes.
- Added a sconce for charcoal; a black recolour of the bone meal sconce.
- Added a sconce for dragon’s breath, themed after the Ender Dragon.
Version 12.5 - Released 🎉
- Slight tweaks to the shadow size of some husk variants.
- Some specular maps, few texture tweaks. Flipped some limbs around. No biggie. Normal stuff.
- Fixed some textures that were the wrong size for Minecraft to handle, reducing mipmap levels on some launchers.
- Changed the Xeno Sword. Instead of changing colour depending on enchantment, it now slowly animated through all the colours, so if you use the Xeno Sword as your daily driver, you get to see all of the colours of Shulk’s attacks without having to have it enchanted a certain way.
- Added a new alternative outfit for villagers in desert biomes. The outfit is based on the Pharaoh’s Golem from the Egyptian Mythology Mash-up Pack, for which there exists an irl minifigure toy that resembles a buff villager in ancient Egyptian clothing. Maybe. Who knows.
- Removed the shirt of the villager base layer skin.
- Slightly changed the colour of the sandals of villagers spawned in warm biomes, to compensate for the darker skin colour in those biomes.
- Re-added the boobs on Cleopatra. Normally I wouldn’t even write a changelog entry for such a minor change, but I thought it was funny. Fun story: When I was making these husks I accidentally deleted my finished Cleopatra texture, so I had to make it again from scratch. That’s why I forgot the boobs. And to take the power back, I’m now writing about boobs in my changelog. Boobs boobs boobs.
- Added a new witch skin, based on the witch from the Greek Mythology Mash-up Pack.
- Added harpies to replace phantoms spawned above Y288. Seems like a pretty big change, lore-wise, but the world limit is 320. There’s only a relatively small 32 block window where harpies exist in Barely Default.
- Harpies are canon to Minecraft as they exist in the Greek Mythology Mash-up Pack.
- Added a new type of namable in Barely Default: Furniture! Rename an iron nugget, gold nugget, copper ingot, or bone meal to “Brazier” and the item will change its model to a Brazier. The Brazier can be placed in an item frame that’s placed in the same blockspace as a wall torch, and will slide perfectly into place on top of the torch. Exciting new horizons for Barely Default!
Version 12.4 - Released 🎉
- Added 3D rotating wheels to Minecarts. This should also fix the issues with minecarts for users playing with OptiFine replacement mods.
- Added a custom model for snow golems that has the stick item for arms. I think this is very fun and Minecrafty.
- Added a bunch of new elements to my zombie variants!
- There’s new skins, parts, references, and notably: Zombies spawned in deserts now have a chance of spawning with mummy wrappings on top of their clothes instead of tears.
- Replaced husks with ancient Egyptian avatars! Canonising the skins from the Egyptian Mythology Mash-up Pack on the Bedrock Marketplace, husks are replaced with 38 unique new dynamic models! Deserts have never been so alive!
- Fixed baby zombies (husks/drowneds) clipping through their armour when they spawn with it. They now use a slimmer body model as soon as armour is detected on a baby zombie.
