So, with this simple shading technique going around, I decided I would redo it. I don't usually shade this way, but I found it helps pinpoint light sources and helps with skinning. I enjoy skinning like this, using only 5 shades, but I find it's not as much of a challenge. If you want to recolour a shade, it is simply using the bucket tool, contiguous un-ticked, and BAM it's all changed. I think I prefer gradient shading.
