You could have used partially transparent colours to make an actual helmet instead of just white outlines btw

just curious, how many colors do you make in each color while hue shifting (if you do that at all) @_@

For the main colors, I usually end up with 11 color tones: the original color, 5 darker, 5 lighter. Sometimes i'll go for a couple more if the skin uses a lot of the same color family. I do hue-shift, but because I use a lot of color tones, the hue shifting tends to look pretty subtle.
