Niord was the leader of a band of Æsir who attempted to join up with another party of Æsir led by Wulfhere, in order to provide reinforcements in a battle against the Vanir. Niord's warriors were caught in a Vanir ambush before they could reach them, and by the time they fought through the ambush they were too late to help the slain Wulfhere.

Æsir have blonde hair and beards. Otherwise they are usual Nordics.They relished battle, but only to loot and pillage, not as means of expanding their borders. Given their lack of agricultural knowledge and their disdain even for the herding of animals, they wouldn't know what to do with conquered lands if they had them !
