Hey everyone. I thought I'd design something for the contest, as I've never participated in one before. I also haven't uploaded anything in a while. This was made almost from scratch. I based one or two parts on my personal skin, but didn't copy/paste anything. Also, feel free to edit this to your liking. Just don't upload it anywhere or claim it as your own. Enjoy!

Arinym's Biography:

This is Arinym Orineci. His mother and father were hiking up Mount Mirum, seeking help from the village near the peak of the mountain. Arinym's mother, Helen, was pregnant with him. After trudging through the deep snow for hours, they were thirty minutes from the top, when a blizzard brewed up out of the blue. The gusts of wind blew the powdery snow everywhere. Forced to take shelter in a cave, Arinym's parents had to remain there in order to survive the storm.
The blizzard lasted for days; much longer than they had predicted. They were stranded in the cave, and had no choice. Arinym was born in the mountainside. However, his parents ran out of food. Even with the storm blowing ice and snow through the air, Arinym's father, Darius, volunteered to go to the village and bring back help. Helen bid him farewell, and Darius slowly walked out into the snow.
Shortly after Darius left, an old shaman came out from the depths of the cave. He announced himself as Kelgar, "the man who ruled Mount Mirum." He said he would provide food if Helen went into the cave and brought back a mystical gem he dropped. Helen knew it didn't seem right, but he also knew that her husband would not be back any time soon. Kelgar also promised that he would look over Arinym while she was away. Helen decided that she had no choice, so she wandered down into the cave. The shaman held out his wrinkled hand with his palm facing upward. His hand shook a little, and a ball of fire appeared. Kelgar placed the fireball on some kindle from Helen's pack. He then placed Arinym beside the fire, then sat down and meditated.
Meanwhile, Darius was painfully making his way through the storm. The icy snow blew in his face and down his coat, freezing him in storm. His hands and feet were almost completely numb, and he knew he still had a ways to go. As he traveled up the mountainside, the snow seemed to get deeper and deeper. He could barely continue, when all of the sudden, he fell through ice! The water was below thirty degrees, without a doubt, and was up to his chest. As he tried to climb out, more ice broke under his weight, and he went under. Freezing on the spot, he knew if he didn't get out of there in a matter of seconds, he would go unconscious. His vision started to fade, as well as feeling in his legs and arms. Using the remainder of his strength, he managed to pull himself out. He crawled under an overhang where there wasn't much snow, and then he fainted.
Back at the cave, Helen was still searching for Kelgar's gem. As she ventured further in, she noticed that it was getting warmer. She came to a large, open area, where the walls were wet and smooth. Then, on the opposite end of the cavern, a small light started to appear. She squinted, trying to make out what the light was coming from, and noticed it was a diamond-shaped object. Helen realized that she had found the gem! She started towards it, when the mountain shook ferociously. The gem fell off of the rock it was balanced on and bounced down another passage. She ran after the gem, but she tripped on a small rock and started rolling down the passage. Luckily, she did not hit her head on anything, but her back was on top of something rather pointy. Helen pulled it out, and to her surprise, it was the gem! However, she had to make her way out of the cave.
After Helen found the gem, Darius was still half-frozen under the overhang. Luckily for him, the storm died down a bit, and a few inhabitants of the village were traveling down the mountain in search of food. They found Darius lying there, unconscious. They immediately carried him back up to the village and put him next to the fire in the chief's home. They took off Darius's ice-covered clothes and put many blankets on top of him.
As the villagers were aiding Darius, Helen emerged from the depths of the cave. Kelgar turned around and Helen said, "Here's your gem, Kelgar," with a smile. Kelgar smiled oddly, and jumped around in circles. But Helen wanted to know why he wanted the gem in the first place. Kelgar told her that the gem was from the center of the mountain, and that it had "the power of the mountain within it." He explained how it would give him the power he needed to get out, because he knew there would be a rock-slide before the storm ended. So Helen suggested that he hurried, because her husband had not come back yet. The shaman raised his hands, and his face wrinkled up as if he was pushing something extremely heavy. All of the sudden, the rocks in front of the exit shattered, and got blown off of the mountainside!
After that, Helen picked up Arinym and walked towards the exit. However, Kelgar did not follow. "Kelgar, aren't you coming? You can't stay here forever," she said. Kelgar replied, "I have lived in these mountains for sixty years, and I will live here for more." Helen nodded, and thanked the shaman for his help. Then she started quickly up the mountainside.
When she arrived at the village, she asked if anyone had seen her husband. They said that they had found a man dying near the path, and that they were taking care of him now. Helen knew that it must have been Darius. She asked where he was now, and they told her that he was in the chief's home. She ran up the steps toward the biggest, fanciest home in the village, and knocked on the door. The chief came to the door and opened it. Helen asked to come inside, and explained how she was stranded in a cave for days and needed food. The chief, who was smiling, said, "Then you are probably wondering where your husband is. He is in the room down the hall, preparing to go look search for you." Helen ran down the hall and slowly opened the door. Darius saw her, and froze for a second. Helen ran in and hugged him. Darius asked what happened, and she explained everything.
They were so thrilled to find each other again, and decided to live in the village. They asked the chief if they could live there, and he led them to a spare house. There, they lived for the rest of their days. However, they did notice that Arinym had a scar across his eye, but his eye wasn't cut. Then, he suddenly glowed like the gem, and Helen realized that the shaman had given Arinym some power of the mountain.
Arinym grew up in that village, and learned how to use a sword and bow to defend himself. His mother made him his robes from the finest silk available. His father made Arinym's armor and weapons from the wolves Darius hunted and the fine steel from deep inside the mountain. Arinym lived in peace for the rest of his life.
