At the second, rarity of the ship not always talking about it's stats, sometimes "Rare" ships may be better than "Super Rare" ones.
Also I'm agree with your point, some low rarity ships can be better than rarer ships, especially when you consider their skill and stats towards your overall fleet.
And, yeah, totally agree, skill managing and combinations is key part :)
