The general idea is good, the shading technique is ok, but a bit pillow shaded. The shades on the arms are upside down, light comes from above the object, so the top has to be lighter then the bottom. For the hair:
try to avoid putting the entire hair on the hat layer, using the normal head layer and some hat layer parts makes the hair look more realistic and vivid. For the colours: They look a bit grey-ish, and some hue shifting would definitly be good, but try to work on the shading itself, like working out where light hits usually and where it doesnt.
