-=UPDATE=-
The contest judging is over and version 1.0 is about 75% complete. The full game will be released soon!
Changes in (upcoming) version 1.0
Completed:
-Better error/level failure messages
-Function command errors will replace the misused block with netherrack
-Magma blocks: stepping on or running into one will destroy your robot!
-Diode (points flow in a given direction, allows loops and more complicated flow patterns)
-Much larger build area (for more complex looping programs)
-New conditional statements: If Standing On <> and If LineOfSight <>
-jumpers (teleport pads for code flow, these are really important!)
-back up command (for planned roborally support?)
-Verticality!
-Climb command: robot will climb up certain blocks
-Robot can fall 1 block and survive
-2 block (or more) falls will destroy the robot
-Conveyor belts that push robots!
-Push command: Push sand forward. It will fall down hills and stuff.
-Interact command: flip switches, can add more in the future
-Switches you can interact with
-Switches can power doors (when turned on, they're redstone blocks...)
-larger ocean floor area (for more complicated levels)

In progress:
-Optimizations
-Bug Fixes
-Sounds and particles for more commands!
-Better architecture, ceiling, level select rooms

Planned:
-More levels (that use teleport pads and other unused features)
-Switches powered by pushed blocks (sokoban)
-Spikes (switch powered)
-Tutorial
-Level unlock system (and cheat button)
Planned and/or considered features for future versions (Not in 1.0 release)
-Multi-robot levels (and blocks activating only one or the other)
-Speedrun mode? (Still considering this one)
-Enemy drones/turrets
-"Shoot gun" command
-bosses with programming you can read, strategize to beat them!
-Build a version of the board game "robo rally" using the source code from this

-=PROJECT DESCRIPTION=-

This project was my entry for a 48-hour gamejam run by the community at the Data Pack Hub. The goal was to make a logic/puzzle game themed after the 1.13 update and that showcased many of its new features.

After a little bit of contemplation, I started building this game, a puzzle quite similar to the online "Hour of Code" demos. In it, you must use some simple block-based programming commands to move a robot from a start point to an end point. These are usually built straight out in a line from the header blocks, but the shape and organization can vary depending on how you build.

As it was a really rushed build, I didn't get to finish the architecture or level design. Only the first 4 levels are completed, and there are several half-built and unimplemented features in the game. If you are interested in playing this, please wait a week or so until I can finish a playable version.

As always, don't claim my work, including parts of the datapack you want to repurpose, as your own. If you would like to use some of my code, you probably can as long as you let me know first and give credit. If for some reason you want to put this on a server, please ask me first.
