I would suggest playing on a minimum of 10 render distance so the whole device would load!
HI, this is an upgraded version of the previous display I did.
This is a letter typer that works completely using Redstone (the only command blocks used are for teleporting the player after a button is pressed)
it has a full alphabet with space, numbers and most importantly it has 3 memory slots that you can use to save what you have written.
NOTE: after loading a save you can't edit it so if you want to change something you will have to type it again.
Changes:
1. added a keyboard for easier use
2. added 3 memory slots
3. added numbers
If you find any bugs or mistakes please let me know!!
Thanks for checking me out :D
(old download)
if you want to paste the display to another world ask me I will explain :)

I also notice what you meant about not being able to edit a save, because if you try to backspace after loading one, the whole screen is cleared. This is probably because loading a save just displays it rather than loading it into the memory of what is currently typed.
