Noir is a gothic-styled manor nestled within the colossal mountains of Neige Toujours; a fictional mountain range containing many secrets awaiting to be discovered. This build features a towering mansion, sprawling forests, and a large lagoon flowing out to sea.

The goal of this project was to try out a new build style: gothic. Having no prior experience building this way before, it was a great learning opportunity. My roots come from Medieval architecture and natural design, so the tall, spiky, cathedral-like buildings that the gothic style employs were a brand new style to me. After looking at many reference pictures, and investing many hours into this build’s completion, I feel as though I did the theme justice.

This build not only features a hand-built manor but also entirely custom terrain. Just as I do in all of my builds, I created the landscape from scratch; this time using a program called World Painter, which permits me to sculpt terrain and export it into Minecraft, rather than placing each block by hand. This process took a few hours, but I am quite proud of the end result. I utilized a mix of stone and andesite for the mountainous areas of this landscape, whilst also using cyan terracotta to create a feeling of shadows on any steep slopes. For the flat areas, a blend of grasses, dirt, and flowers made for a splendid overgrown vibe, with hand-built trees being scattered throughout. For this project, I constructed four new tree assets to be utilized in the forests.
