Built in 1838 as part of the Sutton to Walhampton railway line this iron girder bridge holds a commanding position down the widest and deepest part of the river Lymore. The bridges carries the railway over the river and onto Lymore junction which is served by a large junction box. In order to man this box the workers live in cottages purposely built for them over looking the river.
