Hey don't forget to comment! =D
Introduction:
This is the first time Ive built anything like this. Most of the time it was just with building in mind for a bit of fun, this time however I was using a texture pack and had the full intention of uploading it to PMC. Building with a texture pack was difficult, Ive used default my whole Minecraft life and suddenly switching to a Texture Pack (which is 128x128 FYI) was eye-straining to say the least.Inspiration:
I started this whole house with the pool, I was originally going to make the pool under a lattice but the fence didn't work out so well with how it looked. I started with an elegant pool Seen Here and built around that, the Dining room is a prime example of the elegance, I love how the chandelier looks in the Overlooking-photo from the Reading Room.Building:
Laying the Foundation - When I first started out I wanted it to be all even. One side of the house perfectly mirrored the other side. That quickly changed when I tried to make the Dining Room line up with the window, I ended up expanding the room by 2 blocks.
Picking the rooms - Every known the normal rooms: Living Room, Bedroom, Kitchen, Dining room. There are always empty rooms left in the house. I used up the extra rooms for a giant piano, a pool table, and some extra living space for reading. One can never have too many sofas in their house. I also filled the roof with a Roof-Top Garden, if anyone has ever seen these in movies they are always beautiful, adds so much color to bland roofs.
Where to start - Ive always made houses by creating the whole shell first, putting in the floors, then furnishing. I didn't do that this time. This time I started with the Main Living room, created the whole thing around me (excluding the roof) then went to the other side of the house and did the Dining Room. With that, i was able to fill in the void in-between and not take up too much room for the Kitchen and Piano.
The beauty is in the Details:
On a few of these rooms I added more detail then the rest, so Ill mention them here.
Dining Room: You might be able to tell from the photo, but I went all out on the Dining Room. The floor is made of glass set on top of bedrock and surrounded by glowstone. I used carpet as place setters, makes the table much nicer looking- even added center-pieces. The chandelier; Glowstone and Diamond blocks, its modern looking to say the least
Kitchen: Not at fancy but still quite cozy. I use Beacon all around the house for lights, as they actually do give off light when they aren't even active. Islands give a nice feeling to kitchens, like when you're watching a cooking show or something. There are always carpet sections that you can't see in the Kitchen.
Billiard Room: Also known as Pool-Room, pool tables are always nice to have, even have my pool-sticks along with the White and the 8-ball hanging up on the wall there.
Main Living Room: Looks cold, but isn't. U shaped sofa arrangement along with hanging lights and center carpet. The Fireplace Mantel even had a nice center piece
Reading Room & Overlook of Dining Room: I love this room for its overlook over the Dining Room. The room itself only has a fort-sofa along with a center table and some shelves but the overlook is beautiful.
Bedroom: Complete with Computer, fireplace, and balcony
Bedroom Balcony: Finally! There's that pool you saw earlier in the photo. Its hard to see in the photos but there is actually tripwire laying on top the lights for the pool. A small detail, barely visible.
Roof-Top Garden: No the green carpet isn't suppose to be grass, but it ended up to be. Garden Plants everywhere, flowers everywhere, even a table with a flower pot on it. Its very quaint.
Afterthoughts:
Its much harder than you think to furnish a house- but its definitely the most fun out of the whole building process. The hardest thing to do here was getting the outside of the house to look nice. Flat walls aren't that pretty, which is why I added the redstone blocks for color and some shape. Hope you all enjoyed this c:
Additional Notes
This was a lot of fun creating, I will forever love that chandelier and pool, I hope I'll somehow be able to get a download for this but it was build on a server and I'm not sure how well that would work out asking for the download. If you would like to check the house out ask for the IP and I'll send it your way.

Also I'd suggest some simple rails on the Stairs and some shelves with flowerpots placed randomly on the walls and the use of Moody brightness (or screenshots taken at an earlier / later time of day)
