LOCATION

ß is a contemporary modern house I’have designed in the rural environment of the Belgian/German town Dansberg located on the World Of Keralis Creative Server.

FUNCTION AND MATERIALS

Eszet contains on the main level a carport for 2 cars, a kitchen and living area and a spare time area. The upper elevation exists of a master bedroom with an office area, a bathroom and an extra bedroom. The sunken-in elevation contains 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and an outside courtyard.

The use of natural materials (wood (irl: wood, dark bricks or metal) and concrete/stone) and glass translates the relationship with the environment through the exterior.

FORM AND EXPRESSION

One of the most important aspects in designing architecture to me is the relationship between architecture and nature. Nature is what influenced architects since the start of human development. The relationship between artist and nature meanly manifested itself in the gothic art, renaissance, the baroque period, etc. These artists took time to study natural beauty, and used for example the Fibonacci sequence: the golden spiral based on the division of tree branches.

The relationship between architecture and nature will determine the grade of eternity and communication between human and his perceptions (nature ↔ individual). This is what will influence the esthetics of the creation.

In the design progress I had to work with a diagonal shaped plot and environment. Starting on the side of the neighboring farm plot I created one continuous shape parallel with the division of the plot and the corps. This was the basis I designed on, keeping in mind the balance of the structure and the relation with the settings (e.g. the open central area creates the feeling of being in the middle of a private nature).

Architecture can stand on itself, but integration with the environment is what can augment contemporary modernism.
