Hey Guys!
Every great map starts with a blank world. You need a big, flat area to arrange all your Command Blocks and levels, a world with as little lag as possible, without distractions. A world, in which you don’t have to worry about machines unloading and in which all gamerules are set the right way. With no unneeded chunks in the save file. Where you don’t have to open the debug screen every time to see in which chunk you are and in which direction you’re looking. A world which is perfect for Redstone Engineers. For Command Blockers. For Minecraft Scientists. For Builders, Artists and Testers. For Mapmakers.
Phew, what an introduction! Anyway, here’s a little description:
The map consists of a big platform on y-level 0. It is as big as the Spawn Chunks and completely made out of checkered glass blocks in squares always covering exactly one chunk. The center of it is the block with the coordinates 0 0 0, the only stone block on the map. And right there is also the Spawnpoint.
Next to it are two colored glass blocks, showing you the directions of positive X and positive Z. After I createdit, I deleted all unneeded chunks, the End and the Nether dimensions never were loaded.
All the gamerules were set using my Mapmaking World Setup Command, you can see a list of the settings on its site: www.planetminecraft.com/project/mapmaking-world-setup/
I started with a world of the “Void”-preset. I deleted the platform and set a stone block at the 0 0 0 coordinates. Then I constructed the platform in MCEdit, always making sure it stays in the boundaries of the Spawn Chunks. Then I installed my Mapmaking World Setup Command and changed all the gamerules, the Spawnpoint and the Worldspawn. I opened the world in MCEdit again and deleted all of the loaded chunks I didn’t need and cleared the map icon, to give you the map as blank as possible.
