The stadium occupies an area of ​​250,000 m2, is 220 meters wide, 330 meters long and reaches with cover the 69.2 meters high, although the athletics track below ground level. Were used in total 45,000 tons of steel for its construction.

The high cost for the construction of the plant has caused an unexpected block of the construction work in the second half of 2004 that lasted until the beginning of 2005 and the partial reduction of the initial project. The approximate total expenditure at the end of the construction work will be about 3.5 billion yuan, equivalent to approximately 325 million euro.
