What started this is playing Assassins' Creed Origins. It got me into learning about ancient civilizations. One of my favorite parts of any open world game or MMO is visiting the different towns. My civilization builds are meant to be historically accurate. I read and watch videos on ancient cultivations and try to make it as realistic as possible so you can have an idea what it must be like to visit these civilizations. Thank you for your interest!

edit: nvm i found out :)
Maya culture differs between the northern lowlands and the southern highlands, while in the north one of the main methods of water recolection are underground cavities connected to underground rivers called "cenotes" (and wells), the southerners relied on rivers (wells too), and chultunes, a water-recolection method that was unique to the maya area, the south also had them, although in a smaller percentage, you might want to build some.
To connect different areas you might want to build sacbés (wide roads covered in stucco) and maybe platformed outposts, as these were known to exist at the entrance of settlements.
That's it, nice builds✌
