This is just one of many structures created by an ancient group of people.
From etchings and the stories told by the Piglins living in the region.

From these stories, it can be gathered that over 1,000 years ago, survivors of a catastrophic event escaped to The Nether. These survivors brought gifts and knowledge but they also brought a new disease. A disease that eroded the minds and bodies of those who contracted it, they called it "zombification". This new plague was the reason the survivors left their home world. Over time the survivors developed a cure for zombification. This cure worked well for the survivors but was wasted on the piglins.

While building and colonizing this new world the survivors built many cities, fortresses, and strongholds. But this expansion was cut short by a disease though the piglins were immune the survivors quickly began thogh die off before the bodies could be put to rest they began to rise and attack the living it was thought to be zombification but the cure didn't work. The spread of this disease was rapid, and the only option left was to cast their dead into the lava.

This seemed to work for a time until over time these bodies found there way back. By this point the disease became known as Wither Sickness and had almost killed the last of the survivors.

After the fall of the survivors, The Piglins began killing of these husks. Due as the piglins put these husks to rest but intern lost many of their comrades. When the piglins were killed and the husks put to rest the sand absorbed the life force of those unfortunate enough to die or be buried in this sand. All that remained of the survivors were husks and empty structures the piglins now called their home.
