The Church of All Hallows-by-the-Tower, London. The church narrowly escaped the Great fire of London in 1666 thanks to the efforts of Admiral William Penn had some of the men under his command blow up some of the surrounding buildings to act as firebreaks, the tower is also where Samuel Pepys climbed up to watch and record the progress of the fire. Most notably the church is the site of the only marriage of a US president on Foreign soil, John Quincy Adams was married in the church in 1797.
