A survival map I made, where you have 16 chunks, and 4, 2x2 mini-biomes:
Desert
Jungle
Forest
and Ocean.
In each mini-biome there are 2 buried chests, a dungeon, and a secret structure.
It's not the best map, but it took about an hour (about 2 hours if you include the amount of time I was eating and playing random other games), with a little help from Single Player Commands. (great mod, look it up)
Any suggestions to make it better, please comment.
If you download it, thanks!

Now, before anyone else thinks that I copy and pasted biomes then you're wrong.
These are the steps I went through to make my map:

1. I used this preset:2;7,120x1;2;decoration to make a flatland of stone. The ;decoration part of the preset means that it spawned random ores and dirt patches underground.

2. I marked off what I thought was a 4 chunks X 4 chunks area (I overshot by a block so they are not exactly 4 chunks each) and made walls of obsidian using SPC.

3. I then marked off (roughly) 4, 2x2 chunk areas.

4. I started with the desert, so I made a massive area of sand then designed the terrain from scratch.
Adding cacti and a little pool of water.

5. I did the same thing for the other 3 mini-biomes.

6. I used the /setbiome command from SPC to set the correct biome for each.

7. Finally, I used the /noclip command to goto a random part undeground of each mini-biome and made a dungeon in each. Using TMI to get the spawners.

So please can people not say that I used MCEdit and copy & pasted parts of worlds.

Update no.2 : by quicksandHD 08/26/2013 11:12:47 amAug 26th, 2013

Removed a load of the dirt underneath the forest and jungle, done the same for the desert.
Now there's less dirt and lots of stone and some coal and iron ore.
They aren't very well placed but I didn't want to place every single one separately.

try to make it more natural instead of just copy and pasting four biomes together. To be honest this shouldn't have taken half an hour.

Actually, if you notice, I haven't copied and pasted biomes because of the emmense amount of dirt and sand underneath. I designed them all from scratch, using SPC to fill in spaces underneath. It took me a bit longer than half an hour. I did not use MCedit or copy and pasting.

To be completely honest it would have been easier to just copy and paste a few blocks under ground level then edit it to your needs.
