Bored of the normal Diamond Pickaxe? Wish it could go faster? Well...
I believe this mod is the solution!

Notice: This version of the mod is an unstable release. It may have bugs, and I take no responsibility for any entirely broken games. If you do have a bug, don't be afraid to report it to me, by PMing me or posting it in the comments down below :-).

Tool Refinery is a mod where you, as a player, can finally upgrade your tools. There a 5 ways of doing this. Each way requires you to head down into the depth, and either obtain an ore, or obtain obsidian and then smelt that.

Upgrade Items

These items are what you use to upgrade your tool
  • Zircon
  • Garnet
  • Iodine
  • Azurite
  • Obsidian Shard

Zircon gives the tool a speed boost of 2.0F, which basically means it mines at the same level as the tool above it. Example; a stone tool with this upgrade will give you a Stone Pickaxe back, but this Pickaxe has the same speed as an Iron Pickaxe.

Garnet gives the tool a damage increase of 1, which can prove incredibly useful. It can also save a bit of inventory space from swords, so think twice the next time you're making a sword and you have a bunch of Garnet in your inventory.

Iodine is a rather useful, but annoying ore. Iodine gives the tool a MASSIVE speed boost, however, the tool loses a little bit of durability.

Azurite gives the tool a bit of extra durability, meaning that you can finally get a little bit more out of your tool. In fact, if you use an Azurite upgrade on the Diamond Pickaxe, the diamond pickaxe then has over 2000 uses! Which is pretty amazing if you ask me.

Obsidian Shards give the tool a full upgrade, merging the Zircon, Garnet and Azurite upgrades together to make a powerful tool.

To get the gems, simply mine it's ore with a stone pickaxe or above. However, to get the obsidian shard, smelt some obsidian, and you will be given 9. You can also reverse the obsidian shards back into a block of obsidian.

How to Get

To get this upgraded tool, you must surround a tool that HAS NOT been used yet with the ore of your choice (out of the 5 items above). The tool must just be a normal tool, with no uses or any enchantments. After you have upgraded the tool you can enchant it, which is good news. Repeat this process with another set of the same gem/shard and you will get a second upgrade for it.

To get two upgrades on one tool, you can simply surround your upgraded tool with the next upgrade you want to get. (However, it only works on level 1 upgrades).

After that, enjoy using your new and upgraded tool =D.

Next Version... (1.3)
  • Gold Tool Upgrades (Will not be released in 1.3.1, more likely 1.3.2) (Will be restricted to one upgrade per tool tool until further notice)
  • A new mob (Most likely fully implemented in 1.3.2)
  • A new upgrade item (which upgrades Harvest Levels) (will not come on Obsidian Refined tools) (Will be fully implemented in 1.3.2, will exist in 1.3.1 however)

Planned Features

  • Upgrade-able armor.
  • Bow Upgrades
  • Configuration
  • A Soul Harvesting upgrade.
  • A Harvest Level Upgrade (so Stone tools can mine what Iron can mine, etc.)
  • Wooden Tool Upgrades

Installation Guide

Okay, this is for you people out there who are real noobs at modding their Minecraft (I mean no offence).
  1. Download the mod... you should know where that is... please?
  2. Go to files.minecraftforge.net
  3. On the dropdown list that says 'Select Minecraft Version' next to it, choose 1.6.4.
  4. Then, download the latest Minecraft Forge, but download the installer... for ease
  5. Then, run the installer. Select the 'Extract to client' option.
  6. Go to your Minecraft appdata folder.
  7. Then, from there, create a folder called 'mods' if there isn't one
  8. Drag the zip into there.
  9. Open your Minecraft Launcher
  10. Go to the dropdown menu above the two buttons that say 'New Profile' & 'Edit Profile'
  11. Select the one that says 'Forge'
  12. Click the gigantic 'play' button.
  13. Minecraft will run
  14. ENJOY! =D
  15. There's no 15th step, stop annoying me...

Want to help?

I find this bit the fun part... what you do, is this:

  • If you REALLY like this mod, then click the grey diamond at the top of the screen.
  • It will turn blue.
  • If this mod is like, your most favourite mod ever, then do this:
  • Click the heart.
  • It should turn red.
  • Now it's my turn, to say thank you =D.

No, it's not dead, I just have to recode it sorta for 1.7.10. I'm trying to get it and all my other mods updated, this one will likely be the last to be fully updated.

No. That would have to be implemented at some point, but seeing as the mod has only been out for a month, I would give it some time before I added compatibility to mods that aren't my own.

This mod for some reason, always finds a ID conflict with the Forestry mod. I changed so many mod ID's that I am pretty sure that it will always find a new ID to say that it conflicts with another mod. It also will not give me an ID conflict .txt file when ever it crashes and tells me that there are ID conflicts.

So when ever and how ever you can help with this either reply to this post or pm me whenever you can.

I guess I could add a config. BUT, this mod adds 156 new tools, soooooooooo, yeah, it's not very small.

I'll add a Config in the next update.
