I was experimenting with HD Minecraft skins last night and I finished this one this morning

She's from Siames' Summer Nights animated music video, one of my current favorite songs. I recommend giving it a listen!

I used paint.net to color the skin template and then used MCskin3D to preview it

I just wanted to spread the word, if at least one of you or maybe like 5 people got Ecosia and actually used it we could help the Earth a little bit more. Right now the Amazon rainforest is burning and if you didn't know that's kinda a big source of clean air just burning into more global warming fuel. plEase share this to people you, you don't even have to credit me just tell your friends, your parents, people you know, share this post or just talk about it to your own base to let people know and help the Earth just a little bit by getting this chrome addon that basically is just chrome but the money you give by using it allows them to plant more trees.

Little Top Notch update thingy! :D

Over the past month we've received a couple of applications which we didn't tend to until now. This is mostly due to me being busy with my thesis and being unable to spend enough time on the team for quite a while. 😅

However, we're still alive and kicking, and we have three skin packs in the making, two of which are pretty close to finishing. 😊 We've discussed all the pending applications and if you applied you should be receiving a PM from me in the upcoming couple of days.

The thing that sucks about getting back into regular old digital art is that i'm trying to do it every day or at least 1-2 days, but right now literally everything I do is entirely different. Did everyone struggle with this when they started taking art seriously?

I never really thought of it that way, I think i'm just used to everyone having a style because so many popular artists that I follow and look up to are very consistent. I know it's great to try new things thats why I love doing it, and have been doing so (and also have like a hundred different hobbies oops). But that does make a lot of sense that people could get bored too. I'll have to see where I go with my art, definitely need lots more practicing and experimenting to get where i'm comfortable and happy with it. At the moment though because all of my stuff has always been very different I don't exactly feel i'm going anywhere haha. Thank you for giving me a different perspective!

While you may feel that you're doing entirely different things, for somebody else it may still look distinctively like something you made. Sometimes you have more of a consistent style than you may notice yourself. 😅 You may start to notice that later on when you've put out more work. Suddenly the things that your works have in common will start to stand out.

+ When you're trying to improve and step up your art game in whichever field, it's great to continue to try new things. It's not a bad thing per say when you can't settle on a distinctive "style". Even more so, what I've learned from working at an art museum is that people only get bored of artists who apply the same style and trick over and over again. Generally, audiences prefer to see new things and refreshing takes. \o/

Commercially it's quite a different story than when you're really doing it for the art. Customers like consistency if they commission you for artwork; you'd be more on the 'design' side of art and not the artsy side of art. In that case it's desirable to settle on a style.

TL;DR If you're doing art, it's great that literally everything you do is entirely different. 😁

I totally get this, I feel like im at such an awkward stage with regular digital art right now but hopefully I'll get into a comfortable state soon, I'm gonna be experimenting a tonn. But I'm glad I'm not the only one who has gone through this haha. Ive totally drawn the same "character" over in so many different styles now 😆 nothing has stuck with me yet

Yes, very much. I think when we begin to take art seriously we begin to think about it more. We aren’t just sitting there occasionally and drawing whatever comes to mind, let that be a superhero or some little senseless doodles. Those things are great to draw, don’t get me wrong, but what I realized when I started to take art more seriously is that I always wanted to make something more ambitious, but I didn’t know what yet. And I still don’t cx It’s like skinning, it took me years to develop a style unique to me, and it took days upon days of experimenting and never sticking with anything. But in the end I became more comfortable and consistent with my work. Sorry for this long paragraph x3

I was speaking to Angel_15 today and he said that he’d been speaking to some other judges. Someone said that if they’re certain judge 4 can’t complete it soon, they’re going to do something about it. Idk what, but it’s something.

Hello, just a note, try your best to step out of your comfort zone for contests! You don't want to get stuck in a loop of the same type of skin over and over. Be crazy!
It doesn't have to be just contests. Have fun with your content :) if you have fun making teen skins, that's perfectly fine! If you love making robots, that's wonderful! But it's always great to experiment with different styles and techniques.

I don't normally complain on here but if you're going to copy someone's skin and post it to the Minecraft Marketplace you should think twice. It's a terrible thing to do and can be really hurtful to the original artist.

It's extremely discouraging. It's why I haven't been posting many skins anymore. I don't want to provide something that I worked days on for free if someone will just steal it and make money off of it... I fully agree that a change needs to be done but I doubt there will be one unless someone high enough speaks up about the issue.

I don't personally know the people doing it but I know someone's artist name that is doing it. They have a very well liked something on this site and I used to think that was cool. People look up to them and yet they do this trash.....

This is so true and it really discourages me to continue making skins and posting them to free sites or anything. That was the whole point I even started too, so people wouldn't claim my skins and I could share my art. The worse part is when you actually know some of the people doing it too. I really feel like there needs to be a change so skin artists and any artists don't have to worry about this type of stuff and itd be looked over and resolved as soon as reported.. It is illegal and its very wrong, I hate that nothing is being done.

Exactly! I've even reported it in extreme detail, and I know some teams have reported the stuff too. But Microsoft does NOTHING. It's been a year now since the reports and nothing has been done. Hurts so bad when a well off team and other teams copy paste and edit your own work. Like they could have hired us but NO they want all the credit for themselves. It's something different than just kids reposting for internet likes, this is ILLEGAL greed because the thieves are getting money off of it... Don't we have a copyright or something for our work that we post here on PMC....

I did a quick sort of practice session the other day and ended up making this pixel art of a pokeball.
I know the swirls aren't an accurate way to depict shading on this but, I think it gives it a little flare. 😊

I also made a time-lapse video of this which I linked at the end of the pictures.

I think maybe i'll make a new art blog in the near future?
