Server Information
Welcome to the Durga - The Adventure Map project – a medieval inspired Minecraft adventure map originally created by Wazzab, Peaceful Panda and Runnie in 2012. We aim to have different styles of building and landscaping to make it as interesting as it can be, while trying to implement a story that fits with it.
Server Name: Durga – The Adventure Map
Server Version: Minecraft 1.8.8.
Server IP: released when we have finished setting up the server
Server Location: Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Timezone: GMT/UTC + 01:00 hour
Resource Pack: Conquest 1.8.8. + 3D models
Plug-ins: Worldedit and Clickwarp
Resource Pack
We started using the John Smith texture pack when we started the server. Later we switched to the Conquest resource pack (32x32), because it makes use of metadata. Without getting into too much detail I’m going to try to explain it. Every block in Minecraft has an ID number, i.e. 30 for cobweb. Metadatas (subids) are unused subblocks of existing blocks, i.e. 30:1, 30:2 etc.
The creator of Conquest resource pack, Monsterfish_, makes use of this by creating textures on those ID blocks. By using Worldedit or Metacycler, after installing Optifine or using McPatcher, you can change the textures of certain blocks. This allows the builder to add a lot of detail and variety to their builds.
Sadly the Minecraft 1.8. update got rid of metadata, so the game can’t display the metadata textures at the moment. The last version compatible with metadata is Minecraft 1.7.10. Let's hope they are working on a solution.
Joining The Server
Currently we’re just setting up the server, creating a spawn point and setting up a whitelist. But in the near future we want to recruit some builders. If you are interested in joining the server let us know via a comment on this page including the following information:
- Your Minecraft name
- Your age
- Your Skype name (if you don’t have it or don’t want to talk don’t mind it)
- Your motivation to build (what and why)
When you are white listed and join the server you will spawn in the spawn area. Here we will explain how the server works and there is room to do test builds before you are allowed to build on the server. The server admins, Wazzab and Peaceful Panda, will check out the builds and via us you are allowed to build outside of the spawn area and help on other builds.
Don’t take all of this too seriously, we are just careful.
YouTube
Our YouTube channel, Masterminds, is partly based on the Durga series. The videos that are uploaded on the Planet Minecraft page are also posted on the Masterminds YouTube channel. The Minecraft related series that appear on the channel are:
- Durga (active) – A series that revolves around the Durga server, mainly consisting of updates
- Minecraft Architecture 101 (inactive) – A tutorial based series where Peaceful Panda builds medieval buildings in different styles, like Angelic, Scandinavian, Gothic, Arabic, Aztec and Greek.
- Architectural Wonders (inactive) – A series where Peaceful Panda recreates architectural significant buildings, thinking of the Pyramids or Templo Mayor.
If you are interested in one of these series, check out our channel.
