I was thinking of doing this to. I tried, but kind of failed haha. these were some of my ideas you can gladly use!
* for the anvil, On the top put a full heart (like video game hearts) For the second, kinda of damaged anvil, make the heart half full, and for the almost broken anvil, make the heart empty.
* For the beacon, all tho this isnt nintendo, You can do the companion cube.
* For armor, you can do mario,luigi,princess peach, and daisy. (something like that)
* For the minecart, you can do a mario race car.
*for the flower pot, you can do the green tubes from Mario.
*For the xp, you can do stars, like they have in mario (Mario is prob the easiest idea to use)
*for the cactus, maybe make them into the spiky guys from mario
*For a ghast, you can do king boo.
*Villagers, you could do the little toads.
*For some mob, you can do shy guys.
*Spawn eggs can be Poke Balls.
*The Books can be scrolls, because a lot of video games would use scrolls
*again, protal isnt nintendo, but you could do the cake as the portal cake
*The dyes could be the mario power ups. Ex: The red or orange could be the flower. One of the blues could be the penguin, Yellow would be the star, antoher blue could be ice, etc.
*i dont know what, But you could use the barrles from donkey kong as something
