I can see both points of views. I agree with most in that updates with physical change brings a lil excitement. 1.10 for example, igloos and polar bears....lets be real, they serve no real purpose, but as an adventurer most all of us packed our things and set out to find those new things. When they added ocean monuments, who didnt bail out in a boat in search for 1? Same will go for this new update, it gives us something new to aim for.
Now, for the other side of it. "Useless" things are what I dislike most about updates. I'm sure there's tons out there that just love the Llama, but really? A Llama? Out of all the animals that could be added, hey chose the Llama. Now will this affect anyones gamepay? Not at all, but what do we do with a Llama? Ride it? We've had horses forever, and I honestly dont know anyone that use those due to the mass amount of water in every world. But atleast if you're desperate enough you can kill horses for leather.......what will this amazing Llama offer?

Ok ok, so you can tell I'm not excited about the Llama addition lol. But the others, I'm ok with. Anything involving more inventory space, YES please. More variety of mobs and dungeons, meh there's good and bad sides to that. I agree with Candlevera that adding too many dungeons kill the "unique" world experience. It was better when you actually had to WORK to find a dungeon, now you can stand on a mountain top and view multiples within render distance. IMO it's like saying diamonds are too hard to find, so lets add 40% more ore to worldgen so people dont have to work so hard. When "finding" something new loses it's thrill because it's now given to you around every corner, thats when things are going downhill.

As with everything, the rest is arguable by each individual. Added potions, enchants, restone contraptions, commands etc doesnt affect anyone in basic gameplay. They can add 3 million new potions to tomorrow and I'll likely only use the same ol basics we have now, same with enchants etc. If it's not thrown in my face and forced upon me, I really dont care. I dont have to use it and somewhere in MC land someone is oving that item or whatever so it's all good.

And to end this useless post of mine, I agree that if these or previous changes (or even future changes) are that big of a deal, it's super easy to fall back to a version you're most happy with. And before you say "well there's nothing exciting to do in older versions" well guess what? Thats why the "update" exist in the 1st place, otherwise we'd ALL be sitting on the same old versions right now

What kinda age levels yall got there? I'm an old fart and have no problem playing with any age in general, but I feel weird just jumping into a server with only youngsters. Not that it's an issue, just feels weird without talking to a few of you guys/gals 1st.

Would be too many pics to post but you're more than welcome to click my profile and check out some of my schematic builds. Got a few modern house build styles and 2 mansion styles in there with plenty pics.
You can use the pics for inspiration or if you want DL the schematic and use the buildings, whichever you prefer.

Not sure exactly what you're saying you did or didnt do......did you only submit screenshots or something? Cause Rule #3 & 4 clearly say (and explain how) to saze/zip the finished map and upload it. It's my understanding (just like schematics) if you upload a map/file it would create a download link correct?

    "All ready to enter? Great!
Step 1: Download the contest map, which you can find by clicking this long string of blue text. Place the map in your "saves" folder where Minecraft is located. To quickly find this folder, go to the "Resource Packs" option in Minecraft and click the "Open Folder" button. Go up a folder, and you should see your saves there. Unzip the map zip there.

Step 2: Load the map in Minecraft, and have fun! You have three weeks to build. You are in no rush to post your map, and may post it any time before the posting period.

Step 3: When you're ready to post, head back to your Minecraft saves folder and zip the map folder. Windows users can right-click and Add To > New Compressed Archive; you may also use a third party program such as WinRAR or 7zip.

Step 4: Go to the Create New Project page on PlanetMinecraft and upload your map as normal! Be sure to take many screenshots to show off the interiors."

I'm using Miscrosoft Edge. I did consider AdBlock Plus as I use to keep it activated 24/7 when I had Google Chrome, however AdBlock is not supported with Edge.

I did try switching over to Chrome yesterday (without AdBlock tho) and it was no different than Edge. I get normal o fast load times on every site I visit except PMC. It literally just took me a few minutes to even get to here to respond. I could see my post and see that there were 2 comments but I couldnt click the link until PMC fully loaded. If I try to click any post or any other feature on this site my mouse pointer becomes the lil blue circle thing until the page fully loads.

I've even disabled the header/background ad thing from the main page, didnt seem to make any changes.

Paril, yes technically the entire site works fine. Forums, chat, browsing projects etc all work. The problem is how long it takes the pages to load. For instance right now, after I submit this comment I'll go back to the Forum main page, however I will have to sit there and let it fully load before I can click any forum titles, then when it brings me there I have to wait all over again. No matter what, each time I click something that causes the page to switch over to another I have to rewait for it to 100% load before i can click the next thing.

    Karrthusplaying without mods

minecraft doesn't really have any sense of challenge or achievement without them, imo its pretty bland without like 50+ mods

    Mitz
i see no one really says "ditto" or "me too" for me.
    RIP

just because nobody replies to you doesn't mean people don't agree with you, people are allowed to have their own opinions about how things work, people don't need to agree with you, but even if they do they don't have to comment, just because this happens it doesn't mean you need to complain that nobody quotes you or agrees with you. Your comment is slightly arrogant and gives others a negative opinion about you

    ditto

Pokezilla101Try reclogging n the minecraft server OR logging out of minecraft and logging back in. That helps for me sometimes

When i click disconnect it makes my mc not responding

Mine does this pretty often if I play for a long time (single player world) so it's nothing to do with internet. If you go to task manager while it's locked up you'll likely notice Disk and/or RAM at 100% in the red. CPU usage will most times be at 0%.

In my case I think the only fix is an upgrade of the PC.

I see your point (fine print) but I love my AMD products. We all have our own likes/dislikes, but I do agree on the cores. I wouldnt suggest less than 4 just to be safe. Most bigger games have a system requirement minimum of 2 cores, minimum being the key word. 4 is a happy medium

I'm no pro at this but have you played on other Windows 10 devices. On my Windows 10 I had to go to settings and turn alot of BS off (cause win10 has a ton running in the background which s not helpful to gaming)

Also are you running 64bit Java?

I will definately go with pretty much anything redstone. I've been playing MC for a long time but was always drawn to the survival aspect and then over to big schematic builds etc (obviously not involving any redstone stuff)

I can do small circuits that require no repeaters or anything and a few small things that do (like Jeb doors etc) but I've never sat down and learned any complex redstone stuff. Anything I make with redstone is mostly copies of youtube tutorials lol.

I havent really messed with automated stuff either (farms, mob traps etc) I guess I enjoy my manual labor in pure survival, and when building in creative I only build structures.

The rig I built my 8yo son for Christmas. It was right at the $600 mark w/ keyboard and mouse. Everything was purchased new, no used parts. Most everything was purchased from Newegg.

Case/Tower: Raidmax Vortex ATX-404WB (green LED)
    Motherboard: MSI 970A-G43 AM3+
    CPU: AMD FX-6300 Black
(using stock cooler that comes with cpu)
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport XT DDR3 1866 MHz (2x4GB)
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm
Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti
power Supply: EVGA 500w 80 Plus
Keyboard/Mouse: Cooler Master CMStorm Combo (green LED)
    Headset: Sades SA708 (green)

also added/involved in total cost were the WiFi card, HDMI cables, and green LED fans (case supports 4-120mm fans but only comes with 1 black rear. We went with all 4 green LED 120's)

Total cost was less than $650 for everything including any shipping cost.

NOTE: OS cost was not included as I had that on hand before ever starting this build. Windows 7 Pro and since upgraded to Windows 10. Also he's hooked up to his 32" TV so we had no monitor cost involved in the build. Overall the little PC is pretty bad ass. He gets around 200fps on MC with all fancy settings & shaders. He plays numerous games with great framerates. The only game I've seen that causes a small amount of lag is Ark Survival Evolved on mostly high settings which is to be expected.
For what you're looking to do it would work great. I run C4D on my personal PC which is a crappy store bought Gateway AMD E-350 APU 1.60 GHz 4GB RAM (I get like 20 fps on MC even with Optifine lol) so you'd def be able to run it on a setup like we built.

All versions of everything should match. So if you're playing Minecraft version 1.8.9 then you should have installed Forge 1.8.9 and Optifine 1.8.9......then of course other mods you want to use also need to be compatible with 1.8.9

Gotcha. Dealing with a free trial is no biggie, but if your intentions are for it to be a paid subscription in the future I'd atleast give folks a lil heads up on what may be coming available on said site (the things they'd be paying for). As of now just crafting recipes doesnt scream "come to my site" when as you said, folks can just hit the Wiki.

I'm sure you have some plans for this site that you may not want to reveal and thats understandable as you're still building it up.......but give us something to spark interest.

Just trying to help you out. Who knows, this may become a top site in the future. Directing traffic there NOW is a great move on your part. I'm just concerned that simple crafting recipes may not be enough to catch the peoples attention.
