Inanimate Objects Contest Discussion Thread
Welcome to the Contest Discussion Thread on the Inanimate Objects Skin Contest!
Here you can discuss about your skins, the contest and any recommendations you feel need to be added!
Definition of Inanimate:
1. Not alive, esp. not in the manner of animals and humans.
This means, no humans incorporated into your skins!
Examples of Inanimate Objects:
A Spoon!
A Pool Stick!
A Phone!
A Coconut!
A Pine Tree!
A Hammer!
A Eraser!
A Lamp!
Your goal is to create a skin that resembles an object and bring it to life!
Who knows how many inanimate objects this Minecraft world can hold!
So get skinning and bring an inanimate object to life!
As always, don't forget to read up on the rules and details of the contest! Prizes are involved too!

Congrats to our winner, coldfeets, and to everyone else who participated! Now it is time for me to lock this topic and await the brand new voting poll which will be happening very soon.

Hmm... I'm not sure if these themes have been suggested before, but here I go:
-Magic and Myth (Wizards, mermaids, elementals, ect. However, that does sound similar to Halloween...)
-Nature & Wildlife (nothing inanimate about it)
-Memes
-Cartoons
-Exotic cultures
Eh, that's all I can think of at the moment.

Oh and also a bit Aladdin style skins, like arabic style
I like Arabian!
Oh and also underwater. For example my mermaid and maybe other mythical creatures and normal animals like whales, sharks, fishes etc, and this also gives room for inanimate objects like submarines and stuff.
god please dont turn this into another inanimate object skin ive had enough of seeing them

I suppose I should also include the already approved themes (the ones we've previously used), one of which is Marine Life.

Norse Theme: Includes all Thors and Oden and all the other mythical creatures from scandinavia
Sports Theme: Like Golf players, Football players and you can also make a few inaniamte object skins like football or stopwatch.

The vote to decide which theme will win is most likely going to take place the first or second week of January and will be between about 10 themes which the judges have chosen and approved of.
=) Suggest away! Remember, we want themes that are not too general, but not too specific. Themes that give people room to be creative and expressive but still enough limits to inspire the creative process rather than give people only a vague idea of what they should do.

I made an ice cream sandwich skin, but because the 3D View Applet wasn't in effect (so whomever judged it could only see the 2D view of the skin) along with some other misfortunes (found in the comments of the skin), I failed to make it to the finals, when I know I deserved it... :/
And it was the best ice cream sandwich ever crafted...

Mine isn't up there.... whatever.... I always knew that I was a terrible skinner... or you guys prefer a flute over a clarinet ;A;
But yeah, I know that the sax came from the clarinet, most musicians at the time it was invented played it, and that over time they just ditched it for the sax and thought the sax came first...

i didnt enter but lets say i just made my skin different shades of grey and called it a statue would that of counted?

So do we, Jackie, so do we. We all thought it was creative and unique the first time it was done...every other time afterward was just really annoying. We're doing something about that after this contest is over. =)
I agree with you both, bit of a cheap tactic to get around the 'no invisible parts'.
Maybe put some sort of background behind that's not all one colour. A faded out PMC logo maybe so it doesn't interrupt the skin colours too much. Hope you understand what I mean .

Skins get in the Top 100 by having views, diamonds and favorites. Judges then vote once there are only 100 skins.
So do the judges do the "Calculations", or is it just based on number of views, diamonds, etc?
God, hope i get in the top 100....
