I think the dumbest way to die would probably be the hardest way to die.
If you think about it, Drowning is worse than dying from Fall Damage in Minecraft, because you have a lot of time to get out of the water, and it's only topped by suffocation because of the little amount of damage you take.

Personally, I think the dumbest way to die would be getting pricked to death by a cactus.

I'm pretty definite that the most stylish way to accidentally die in a single-player world is to fall in the void.
In multiplayer I would say the worst is to die of fall damage to someone who barely knows how to sprint, and then get the message 'So&so fell from a height' because said person was trying to pick up your gear.

Mining straight up into gravel BUT above the gravel was lava so as you dig your self out to avoid suffocation, you dig right into the lava that flows down onto you. True story.

You wear protection 4 armour and jump into a desert temple, falling onto the pressure plate, which them causes an explosion that propels you up through the hole you entered from, and while you're going up you decide to burn everything in sight using a flint and steel, but near the top of your arc (at which point you still have pretty high health due to the armour you're wearing), you inginte a creeper, which explodes just as you start coming back down, propelling you into your iron golem farm, where you get stuck in the lava-based kill-zone. Now being on fire, you frantically spawn water, which makes the lava turn into obsidian, making you crawl, upon which you get pushed by the flow of the water into your nether-based mob grinder, from where you are pushed into the portal and enter the nether, where you frantically spam your Efficiency V netherite pickaxe, digging down faster than you fall, and almost die of fall damage, find ancient debris below you and mine it, but then you accidentally break the netherite below it, making you fall even further, and while you're falling a ghast shoots you, then you hit the ground and die just before the fireball hits and blows up all your stuff.

Tried to sleep in the nether

you went to a desert temple. it was filled with creepers. so you mined down and MLG WO'TAH BOKIT clutched but then the bucket was a bucket of salmon so you CLUTCHED it and got the bucket of salmon back but then a creeper exploded leading that to 10 other ones exploding leading 1 creeper to be KB'd and stepped on the pressure plate so you lock ur self it and 2 block wide cobblestone wall and you survive with 3 hearts, but then as you fell you knew you would die from fall damage but water flowed and just to be safe you MLG'd on the water but then 24 other salmons came flowing down so you
tried to run away but too late you got space crammed and flung away since there wasn't any fence around the water source now you see a strong hold you mine bloks whats this you mined infested stone you fuggin died
