Would it be possible to not rename the files on upload ? "nameofthing_948724_texture" is not very sexy nor practical.

Here's a list of reserved characters on the various systems: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filename#Reserved_characters_and_words
I think the ones I cited above (space, single quote, period) are safe. But yeah, I do remember having issues with php file managing relating to filenames...

Yah, I feel the need to run it through a filter to remove any "odd" characters that may break the file for some operating systems. Some filenames are valid on one operating system but not another. I no longer add anything to the name though.
Er, wow, that was fast ! ^^
Tested, it still changes spaces with hyphens, caps with lower case, removes dots and single quotes, etc. but it's much better !

Updated. Site will only rename when it detects the file already exists. Test it out
Yep, it's on my list to do. Let me bump it up.
Great, thanks !
Is this for mcedit cause ive never had this problem ^.0?
I'm not sure what you mean but MCEdit schematics are renamed too when uploaded to PMC. Example here
