Ok so I've been on this site for a while, as in back when the options for the format to a skin were either "64:64" or "1.8" or something to that degree(it's been a while so I can't remember the specific options). My question is, has the new HD Bedrock option replaced the 1.8 option and is Java still what used to be the old 64:64 format? I'm a little confused...

If anyone out there can provide clarification that would be good.

A 1.8+ Skin refers to a skin that has overlays all over the skin, not just the head. 1.8+ skins are the "norm" to say.
As the 64x64 thing, that's the skin resolution. 64x64 skins are considered standard skins and can be used by both Java and Bedrock Editions of Minecraft. An HD Skin is a skin the 128x128px large. This allows more detail that can be added, the only thing is that only Bedrock Edition of Minecraft can use these "HD" skins.

I hope this has helped you understand skins a little better.
