Are burritos sandwiches?
The definition of 'sandwich' is "two or more slices of bread with a layer of meat, fish, cheese, etc., between them", so would a burrito fall under that category?
(adding a poll because i can)

yeah obviously it is a sandwich
tbh I thought a tortilla was a different type of food entirely but idk
No a culinary expert a hot dog is a sandwich, a hot dog bun is 1 bread, but theres something between bread. A pita with filling is considered a sandwich, and tortillas are technically bread, made of flour, water, not necessarily yeast, but think bout pita. THEREFORE A BURRITO IS A SANDWICH
Oh god, these are the types of questions that make me question the existence of reality itself...

legally they can be considered sandwiches but you’re a psychopath if you think stuff in between two slices of bread is the same as stuff in a tortilla
the 5 people who put yes are psychopaths
Wtf YES they DO!!
"According to the NY State Department of Taxation and Finance, hot dogs and burritos are both considered sandwiches"

if you pour milk in cereal, is the milk a broth, a beverage, or a sauce?
CEREAL SOUP
its milk
Hi, inzanely! Possibly burritos are not sandwiches, since sandwiches is not a food from Mexico.
Just because they originate from mexico does not make a burrito not a sandwich. Theres obviously other factors such as conflict of definition/appareance as others have explained
A burrito is either a calzone, quiche or a sushi dependent on what type of burrito it is. If the burrito is open on both ends it is a sushi. If only one end is open it is a quiche. If both ends are closed it is a calzone. Any questions?
Editor's note: Quiche could also be referred to as soup dependent on ingredients
Editor's 2nd note: This means its not a sandwich

No. Not at all, they are nowhere near close to sandwiches
They would be considered a sandwich due to the fact that there are sandwiches with one long loaf of bread. Tortillas do share similar traits with the long breads. So it should be a sandwich.
Edit: I just watched Food Theory's episode on this topic, that changed my perspective on sandwiches.

At this point everything is a sandwich.
Well, all of our answers are theory. Even mine!
Obviously not, because it's just one "slice" of bread.
if a sandwich wrap is a sandwich than so is a burrito
No, Burritos aren't sandwiches.
Why? Well, because it only uses ONE big flour tortilla.
BUT, technically if you cut a burrito in half and place it together, it IS a sandwich! Why? Well, the tortilla is now separated and if put together it is a bunch of ingredients between TWO tortilla pieces! You might say "BuT WoUlDn'T It StIlL bE OnE ToRTiLLa", well yeah, but for example, when you make a sandwich from normal loaf bread, you cut pieces from the loaf to make the sandwich!
So in conclusion.
A burrito CAN be a sandwich if cut in half.
But if not cut in half, it isn't!
(edit: i know some of u will say it isnt since a tortilla isnt bread, well, guess what, it is used to replace bread in some countries since it's cheaper!)

That brings up the question, is a hot dog a sandwich?
My brain is boiling right now (。_。).
a tortilla is only.. one piece of "bread"
so
no?
so
no?
what about flatbread sandwiches, that is usually only one piece of bread but it's folded over with materials inside of it
i mean burritos have 1 tortilla so no
I think burritos are unhealthy sandwiches
the google definition of a burrito literally states:
a Mexican dish consisting of a tortilla rolled round a savoury filling, typically of minced beef or beans. So not necessarily. You can have really unhealthy sandwiches too
By putting a hamburger meat in a sandwich.
hamburgers are already sandwiches tho
Not necessarily. You can put a bunch of deep fried mcdonalds fries between 2 pieces of bread and thatll be classified as a sandwhich (because its a filling between the 2 pieces of bread)
I don't think...
Or i'm wrong?
Wdym?
