Can anyone tell me what caused this?
So I used to play survival on this seed(5062961087229329335) and at the coordinates -41924 ~ -73214 there is an odd generation of biomes that's i've never seen before. Idk how this thing happened, and i was hoping y'all could tell me.

It may because of floating-point errors since you are so far away from the spawn.
Interesting
It could be a biome spreading bug

as requested: a screen shot of the anomaly without biome blend
the shadow seed, 6003990365951316062, doesnt seem to have this effect
it might be related to coral reefs being handled as a structure, but that center point (a beach biome) is still there for both this seed and its shadow seed
the shadow seed has the biome as deep_lukewarm_ocean, those ripple areas are lukewarm_ocean, so the deep mightve been removed when the coral generated?
the shadow seed, although theres no coral at the negative X/Z it has one at the positive and generates a similar ripple effect at X/Y/Z (/tp 41832 128 73066)
both seeds have a form of deep_ocean in the original position of the others coral, and coral in the others deep_ocean, and have the ripple effect in their coral
the ripple effect seems to happen when coral gets close to a beach
suggestion: its easier to see the biomes if you set "biome blend" to off (its in video settings, if using optifine its in the details section)

Interesting, thanks!
ive realized, after looking closer, the ripples arent as much ripples as they are a 5x5 grid that surrounds "not ocean" and sets "ocean" to "non coral ocean"
it might be a failsafe to prevent coral from generating at or above sea level, as when the coral is near "not ocean" the game might generate it in the air, but since coral can only generate it warm oceans, it just sets biomes of type "ocean" surrounding the "not ocean" to "non coral ocean" before the world gen that created coral actually runs
i think part of the coral structure replaces air with water (if it generates near a cave) so if it generated a coral at y 63, water would generate at y 64, which is now above sea level, or if it doesnt place water, it could generate above 63 and die, which i think theyve done whatever they could to avoid coral being dead on world generation
this is my theory to why though, but its alot better to ask someone at mojang why it does this, but the shapes of the ripples definitely appear to be a 5x5 centering non oceans

I’ve found another instance of this on the same seed. This time, the patterns go north to south
-4472 ~ -3555
-4472 ~ -3555
Um, OK that's weird..
Wow this is really strange!
There's a youtuber called Antvenom who sometimes does videos about chunk errors and strange seeds: https://www.youtube.com/c/AntVenom/featured But I don't think he's ever talked about this kind of seed before, you could try asking on his discord server, he might know something about it.

Thanks, I’ll ask when i get a chance.
hm thats strange. ive never seen ocean patterns copy like that. funny how the middle pattern is an island.
it just looks like an ocean and islands to me
I think they're talking aboutnthe repeting and slternating ocean types
