You will need to pay for most mods.... (DLCs).... a players NIGHTMARE
No it would be up to the creator of the game to make you pay for it not Valve.
Mmmmmm, probably not. There may be DLC, but on steam, player-created mods are usually free (Like for Skyrim and Garrysmod)
Nothing would change, you could just download the game through steam instead of minecraft. net and it would show up in your game library. Possibly achievements would be changed but that's it.
tetJeb said at Dreamhack that it would be difficult for them to add it to Steam since you have a separate logon for each. Plus, as previously mentioned, Steam gets a cut of what's sold. However, I think it would be pretty simple to do it. You can manually add the game to your Steam library and launch it from there. It really shouldn't be any different if Mojang put it on Steam themselves.
Also...re-code it with a different coding language
That's never going to happen. Even if Java is terrible.
Java is not terrible... would u be able to make a coding language like java?
I'd be up for it, I can't see many reasons why not, except maybe Mojang's pay cheque
I think resource packs, maps, mods, etc. would all be nicely sorted in the Steam Workshop and easy to install.
Where are you getting your examples? Lots of Steam Games have mods built in.
SurvivalQuest+Guns
+Updates
+Minecraft Locked Chest Key
+More guns
-Bow
-Mobs
+Team Deathmatch
+Cell Shaded Graphics
-Texture Packs
-Mods

There would be DLC maybe.
Guns and Planes and Wars and multiplayer team deathmatches etc.
Steam = Game Library.
That is all. They have no control over how the game works.
I would not support it, because Steam would limit Minecraft updates in some way. Don't ask for an example, because I don't have one. It should stay the good and happy way it is.
It could still happen, but its very unlikely. I heard on that Jeb was considering it. It would be cool though. It would probably have steam achievements instead of the regular achievement setup. Maybe it would have a different multiplayer too.
Nothing? Wouldn't it be all still coded by by mojang? but just on the steam.
EDIT
But, The mods will be running on the steam community, and it will be much much much simple to install and find mods. also achievements.

Not only would achievements be easier to keep track of, but mods would also be easier to locate and add to the game, thanks to the Steam Workshop. In addition, having the Steam Overlay would be a quick and handy way of checking sites like PMC or the Minecraft wiki in the middle of a game, without having to switch tabs constantly.
Nuclear_pieoii57What if minecraft ran on Steam? love to hear what you think!Wouldn't be much of an Indie game anymore
There are TONS of indie games on Steam.
IT wouldn't change, except maybe a Steam workshop would be nice... But other than that, NOTHING. And if you can already add it to your library.
bump!

This game would run even worse, if you think that thats even possible.

Well if minecraft ran on steam this will make mojang have more money then ever and maybe have some cool updates for it
It would be exactly the same. Nothing different. Same developers. Same company just instead of buying minecraft through the website you buy it in steam and press the play button in steam instead of the minecraft.exe shortcut on your desktop
An amazing thing called mod support
Minecraft would be the same.
The people who made Steam would get some of the money when Minecraft is bought by someone.

It might have less lag...
No it would not... It would be the exact same code?
I'm pretty sure steam doesn't control the development of games posted.
If they added some performance-thing to it, or re-code it with a different coding language. Lag depends on your computer, anyway.
Well, that went off-topic quick.
And you mean Steam the game library thing-a-majig, right?

yes.
Everyone! We must create a time machine if we are ever to make Minecraft run on steam!
Quick! Who knows a Darn thing about Quantum physics?

You may want to look at this.

Before we worry about the machine you need to learn that time doesn't quite work like that. you see from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... timey wimey... stuff.
why do people make time machines shaped like eggs?
I actually do... xD
ok, ill get the materials, you start to build it
NOT ME!
I know a where a time machine is! Doctor Who! EVERYONE QUICK! Make a thingy midgigy where you can go into movies/shows!
Dr. Freeman is a better doctor.
anyone? 'cause I would love to go into like hmm. Wreckit Ralph and eat all the candy in sugar rush.
Jeb or dinnerbone (I can't remember which one) mentioned to use Steam to add an universal achievement board just like the one in the Xbox.

WELL,I can tell you right now that that is complete and utter bullshit As for one thing, Steam, doesn't change the games, they just allow them to be ran. Because if that was the case, Then Terraria would be a HD 1st-person shooter.
its not call of duty..... its a game engine...

Don't ever forget the hats.

I want hats :3
I don't think you quite get it.
lol!
Well son
Where not in the old age anymore
Trains don't run on steam anymore, and Minecraft won't either
