Old World Generation

Is there any way to play newer versions without the new world generation? The increased height makes the game noticeably slower. I thought that would be an obvious thing everyone would want, but I haven't found any way to do it.

I could've sworn there was a world gen datapack released during the Caves & Cliffs update development, which would revert the changes back to old generation. I haven't found and tried it myself, but I am getting sick of those giant caves. They eat up a ton of your torches just to make it mob-proof.
