How long have you been playing Minecraft…….
…. And what got you started?
I never had any interest at all in Minecraft, I’ve gamed for years but preferred games like The Sims and Spyro… Minecraft just held no interest for me.
Then the first 2020 lockdown happened and I was climbing the walls…. My friend used to play Minecraft on and off and suggested I try it… I literally put it on to keep her quiet… ended up building a huge Medieval castle…and have not stopped playing it since!
My biggest regret is that I didn’t discover the awesomeness of this game sooner… I have so much to learn!
so how long have you guys been playing?

Since 2013, and it was the best 8 years of my life.
I was a young kid, and I was watching my older brother playing some Hunger Games on his PC.
A few days later, my cousin was able to get me the game (it was an cracked version)
Now, I have full Java! :D

9 YEARS >;3 MEOWS
Two and a half (ish) years and I play too much, I came to it rather late. I used to prefer games with more realistic graphics.
I used to be exactly the same, I wouldn’t even attempt Minecraft because I was convinced I wouldn’t be able to get past the blocky graphics… how wrong I was!!
Most of our builders started at different times, but we have all come together and work to create amazing worlds for players to explore!
I was checking out your page…. Amazing builds!
Thanks!!
Agreed, you just got a new subscriber
:O Thanks so much!!
Same here, have subscribed to you on YouTube too, can’t wait to check out that boat tutorial.. looks insane! =)
Eight years. My cousin downloaded the cracked version of the game in 2013 and taught me how to play. I only got a premium account in 2016 tho.

I started playing in 2012, so 9 years ago, on an old Kindle Fire we owned at the time. My adopted sister's brother came over and suggested it to me, and so my dad bought it for me. I later played on an Xbox 360 for many years, and now play on PC.
since 2012 at least, starting with the mobile demo version
8 years , since I was 3
if youve been playing since u were 3 then youre 11 now but u need to by 13 to be able to login to PMC
Wow! you were 3 years old when you started playing!
Before I started playing the game, I discovered it via Markiplier's age-old Minecraft series, "Drunk Minecraft". This was probably December 2012? I know it was way before I even got hold of the game since my 12-year-old self didn't even use a computer at the time. Lived off my 3DS and Nintendo Wii at the time, old I know, haha.
Anyway, I started playing on the old Classic version of Minecraft back when you could still play for free on the web browser before it completely shut down for good. I used to play on a few of the Creative servers they had. I don't remember the names to now, but I do wish I had the old builds I made on there; even though they were absolutely terrible, they were still what led me to want the actual game.
It wasn't until October 2013 that I officially received the game as a very late birthday gift. I had no idea how to even control the actual game. I had no idea how food worked or how creative mode worked. I was a complete noob. Then I just started messing around on a flat world and started making random things. Unfortunately, those worlds I had on my old computer weren't saved. But that was, of course, way before I knew how to even backup worlds, so it's partly my own fault, haha.
But now it's 2021, and I'm still here playing Minecraft. Not nearly as much as I used to; however, I will say that I still play and am working on an old project of mine that will be having an update soon, which I am very much looking forward to! Minecraft will always be a creative outlet for me, and I don't really see myself giving it up permanently. I may put it aside for a bit, but I've never found myself forever abandoning the game. I never had the heart to, even when I would take month to year-long breaks. I always found my way back to it, no matter what happened. Whether it was on a Minecraft Parkour server, Creative server, or just messing around in singleplayer. I always found something to keep me interested in the game, making it hard for me to believe that it can get "boring". There's always something to do. You just need to look for it.

That’s what I love about Minecraft… It’s just infinite. I’ve always found with most other games that I get bored very quickly… I’ll play them non stop for a month or two then I’ll either complete them or just find them repetitive… with Minecraft I’ve never found this… I like to switch between modes, when I need a creative outlet I’ll design and build stuff on creative and when I want to just enjoy the game I’ll play survival.. either way the game still fascinates me… I actually have to be quite strict with myself and have cut off points in the evening or I will literally play it all night haha!
I do play The Sims quite often, though I feel it's the only game you can play that has endless opportunities for advancing gameplay and exploring more than what you might find during a normal gameplay. I do like that it's another one of those games where if you add mods, you can have an entirely different experience than if you were to stick to what most consider a "vanilla" game experience.
I wish more games offered the option to follow the "set" gameplay, or let you go off on your own and make your own experience that's completely off the grid and a different experience than what the average player might experience.

I used to play sims a lot but only on Xbox, I’d be up for trying the sims pets with the horses, I never got to play that when I had a console as it was only available on PC. I’ll definitely be giving some PC horse games a try, never found any decent ones for console!
I've been playing since 2011. It was my favorite game back then and still is now :)
I actually played it since I was 5. And I am 14 now!!! I hadnt got a Smartphone or PC, so I played it on my friends Xbox.
10 months
i can't exactly remember exactly, but i know it was around the exploration update-
the first version i ever played was the good ol' raspberry pi edition, i then moved over to mobile, which then led me to windows 10. then in october of last year, i got java.

I've been playing for 4 years
Me to!
Saw many YouTubers play and got Minecraft for Christmas in 2015. I was 8 years old.
I started playing back in 2010. I was in high school at the time. I am old! Back then it was just this weird new block game, VERY simple. I was in website design and animation classes, so we were using photoshop to retexture the game which is why our teacher let us play during class as long as we kept modding! Haha he was a great teacher.
I've played on Java and Bedrock, PC and Xbox. I'm not trying to start a debate but bedrock and java are both amazing these days. I play both versions and bet the people who think bedrock sucks are NOT well informed about bedrock. I think my favorite update so far is probably the update aquatic. It was the most badly needed. The oceans were SO huge and boring before that. My least favorite update was the one that added hunger to the game because it was difficult to adjust to at the time. I am okay with hunger now tho. Haha
EDIT: I remember when I very first saw the game, my friend was showing me his "base" which was just a 2x2 tunnel with some normal oak doors and stairs placed here and there. But I was so amazed! I was like "Dude.... You BUILT this?!?" Hahaha The game has become so much more complicated since then.

I’m 2020 too, I’ve learnt pretty quick I think but I would still class myself as a complete noob! Half of the threads on here are like another language! I look forward to the day I can join in and it all makes sense!
2013 or 14, I first played the game by pirating it

I personally got the game on December 20th, 2010, the day beta 1.0 released. My oldest brother and a few of my friends played it a lot, so I decided to try it out. Have been playing it regularly ever since.
I started playing a cracked copy of Minecraft on my stepdad's hand-me-down 2003 laptop (which I called "The Dinosaur"), back in probably 2011 or so. I had to crank down all the settings and play at a few frames per second, but by Gary I did everything there was to do in survival at the time. I also had Pocket Edition for my iTouch. Eventually I started playing legitimately with my friend's old account. Nowadays I'm pretty much exclusively a creative mode player.
I got into it because I liked what I saw of it and everyone only had good things to say about it.

I prefer creative mode… I love building! I’m going to start a survival map on the Java version to see how far I can get with it but I’ll definitely have a creative map too… got so many ideas!
same,
The death of my gold fish caused me to start playing in 2021, but I quit recently in 2014 because it wasn't fun mining and crafting anymore
Seems like a nice variation, lol I just assumed everyone on this forum had been playing minecraft forever! Especially when I see some of the posts… I’m like ‘I’ve no idea what you are talking about’ haha!
I’ve got so much to learn but it’s all fun! =)
