How 1.9 update improved PvP
Lots of people blame 1.9 for adding shields and still play 1.8 but i want to explain why 1.9 PvP is better for large servers.
Shields removed some decent 1.8 abilities but they added a new way to combo, the click delay is better because it makes people win because of skill and not get CPS carries(if you want examples of cps carried people go to a hypixel pvp match) and Elytras, Elytras make travel and combat as well as escaping easier and you can now land on enemies from above not needing any structure.

I'll always feel like 1.8 is better, but that's probably because of nostalgia for me. Being involved in a server where PVP was a big thing (pre 1.8) surely doesnt help. I do need to admit that 1.9+ pvp has leveled the playing field and you need a bigger variety of skill to pvp, instead of just seeing who clicked the fastest

I didn't play 1.8 but i like the sword blocking thingy

People still staying cps carries you in 1.8 is crazy π
Get your auto clicker, set it to 30 cps and join coldpvp.com and lets see :3

I just mean 30 cps and dia axe is like 100 damage per second π
1
homie uses axe in 1.8 π
1
It is max achievable damage with cps hacks in 1.8
2
So if I think the old stuffs worse what do I click
2
Agreed, if you think 1.9 worse than 1.8 Disagreed
1
Man, Old sword blocking is better instead of using shields, In the 1.8 update, Combat used to be more better.

Sword blocking?????????????????? WAIT IT REMOVED A FEATURE

I mean i don't agree nor do i disagree. I believe both versions got their own way. (coming from a guy who practised both for 5.5 years)
Though, from my experience with them. I do prefer 1.9+ pvp as it is less dependent on how fast you click or how good your mouse is, How laggy you are. As well as having more strategy while using it. About the shields & elytras. I do understand why people may see those being kind of overpowered. Especially the elytra. But, Judging by how much has changed about exploring since 1.8. Elytras are in my opinion no longer a luxury item. But using elytras to escape a battle is a scummy move in my opinion ngl.

I know about the Elytra, it sucks in ffa if you aren't trying to find enemies but is decent in vanilla

Just wait while I change into my asbestos suit…
About the only thing that's likely to be agreed upon is that 1.9 changed MC combat…

1.9 changed MC combat but only the part with the CPS carried(the guy with 999 clicks per second idk how)

there are literally cheats for 1.9+ that allow you to only attack when within player distance (like a goofy ahh triggerassist) , so trust me when i say the mechanics of modern pvp are just as exploitable by cheaters as the old ones
1
All is the same as exploitable except a minor security tweak in 1.8 and high cps, most cheats that do not involve cps are the same but the cps ones go brr in 1.8 and not in 1.9
1
It is called Killaura and it is not possible without cheats while like 5 cps(45 damage per second with dia axe) is achievable with the mouse you can buy in some shop
1
blud thinks you can get 1,000 cps with just a mouse π
not to mention 1.8 is a lot more timing than cps as its about just the attack kb reduction.
aim beats cps.

External 'helper' programs were/are available to enable that kind of speed; used to be called speed clickers IIRC
These were usually treated as game hacks (like x-ray, auto-target, etc) but were no more perfectly prevented tahn are any of teh other hacks…

I also mean people who somehow get a lot of cps with bare hands and a Normal Mouse

Back in the late '70's with a very early handheld game (9-volt battery and LED display if that teel anyone how primitive it was) I was able to get ~~40 cps [βactually button presses per second], but this wasn't sustainable.
The technique involves contracting both the flexor and extensor for the relevant finger until one produces a tremor while using one's wrist to adjust the pressure on the button until the limitation is the speed of the button's debounce circuit.
Given teh shape of most computer mice, I don't think this would work well, but someone may have been using nonstandard equipment (or devoted more time to the issue than I did).
