Higher Res. Pack reduces lag?
Hello. Recently, I noticed I've been getting horrid lag. Like, 10-15 FPS on single player, with all my graphics at the lowest. However, since I love the texture pack SphaxPureBDcraft, I decided to start using it, even though I expected to lag even more. However, to my astonishment, I get more FPS with 32x. I was now getting 30-40 FPS. Then, I thought, "Hey, I wonder…?" and I tried it with 64x. And guess what? On a intense PvP server where I'm running around in enchanted armor, swinging my sword like I'm drunk, I'm getting 60-70.
So, I just wanted to ask, since I'm curious, why does this happen? I went back to default to see if it still lags, and it does. Anyone have an explanation?

You'd have to test it in a constant environment rather than in three different places.
Pixels do not "make lag". Texture packs barely affect rendering speed; texels are mapped to screen pixels in a linear-speed algorithm. A 2x2 texture will still require the same amount of fragments to draw as a 1024x1024 texture.

You know this is true because well, it's paril.
Hmm, I suppose that's true. I'm curious if 128x will make me run even faster, but I'm afraid my computer will crash, as the last time I foolishly tried to use a 128x pack, (DoomCraft) my computer crashed, and was rendered useless for about an hour.
This happens to me a lot but I think it's the pixels that's making the lag.I may be wrong.
