Actually alot of the coders on mojang are previous modders and the reason it takes longer is just to make sure the base game isnt extremely buggy

Those trims are a real breakthrough. I just hope those custom trims for resource packs and data packs won't be too complicated to make.
looking for a solution for this now. Gotta figure out how to make a trip for each armor type, for each trim... Doesn't look like it's possible for now, unless I'm missing something.
Yeah, it was just that slicedlime's video covering the folder structure and JSON text for their custom textures was confusing. The new atlas requirements really threw things off.
Yeah I guess server owners will have to get creative with ways for ppl to get access to those upgrades.
The trim is nice.
But having to find an "upgrade" smiting template in a bastian in order to upgrade my pick axe to netherrite is terrible..
What about multi-player servers? The first person who finds the basitan will be the only one in the server who can have netherite.

That may have already been a problem since ancient debris is rare as it is. I do think diamond armor deserves a little more use as the upgraded tier is more of an endgame resource. Diamond armor isn't that useless by comparison. I wasn't in a rush to find enough scraps and craft enough ingots to have a fully upgraded set myself.
I was thinking more along the lines of tools, not armor.
It is very helpful to have a netherite pic-axe when de-chunking for a farm as it has a higher durability than any other material.
It is already hard to find the ancient debrees, and will be nearly impossible to also find a basitan in order to get a single netherrite pic-axe
before I can even make my farm. I am a builder, and bastians are scary places I would rather leave alone.

I see what you mean. Tools are certainly useful with higher durability.

Personally, I just cant wait to flex my max upgraded smithing table XD
I hope that in Planet Minecraft there will be a special section to show nice combinations of armor trims as well as it happened with the banners.
