My friend recently suggested that I host a minecraft server... I dont know if It will lag or not, or even if it can handle it.

Its a laptop with

CPU: Intel Core i3, 2.6GHz
RAM: 4GB @ around 500MHz
Windows 7
Intel HD Graphics

My custom gaming pc will do better, im getting it soon

CPU: Intel Core i7 2700k, 3.5GHz (possibly overclock to 4GHz soon)
RAM: 8GB @ 1600MHz
Windows 7
NVIDIA GTX 570 graphics

any lag on both of these?

If its just a server for you and a pal then either of those will take it in their stride. I recommend (if it is indeed for you and a buddy) that you host on the laptop since uptime doesn't matter greatly on a 2 person server and dedicate the 2700k for crysis Should've got a 3960x mind you...

The processor is OK, it won't have fantastic speeds but it will do.
Also note that your internet upload speed matters greatly, and if you have a very slow internet connection, you shouldn't host a server.

You should be able to host a server ok. Depends on your upload speed. Won't be amazing on your i3 though.
