Command Block Help- summoning items

Hello all!
I am making a 1.9 Minecraft economy-themed map, but I have a problem.
I can't figure out how to make the "money generators". The idea is that when the players start the game, their generators will start and it will generate around 1 gold nugget for every 10 seconds.
I did have a way of doing this with a slow clock running into a command block which summons the items, but the problem was that the clock would be running even before the players started the game, giving them a ton of nuggets before the game even started!
The generator is just a gold block, and the items are summoned on top of it.
Please help me!

Try making a scoreboard score go to 1 when the player joins, and the output turns on the clock.
