and who are these people with there online store crap i mean
hmm i think i may steer towards a pc as creepercarole rightfully said, they have more ram, better graphics ( in some cases ) and they are alot cheaper...and creepercarole, i have no knoledge of computers ( of the standard your talking about ) so to assemble a pc myself would be an improbability
If you want to game definetly get a desktop, or laptop the only decent gaming would be minimum 1000+ the laptop i have 2000 and 2 years old and it can just play cod4 with a minimal amount of lag also im in aud so i think thats about gbp - 0.6510 - 1 aud
oh crazy.... I meant to ask, do you want to host a server from your computer? if so, avoid any NICs that are motorola chipset, for some reason they just hate minecraft (known issue.) the monitor looks awesome!
the biggest things you're looking for with a pc is speed, RAM, and a videocard with a good amount of RAM on it as well. I picked my daughter up a system 3.8Ghz, 4Gb RAM, and a GeForce video card with 512Mb of RAM (there are better, but I was cheap.) Her system SCREAMS.
... of course, I put it together piece by piece, but that's half the fun.

this one, it has the i5 processor and similar specs to your last one. i5 is really all you need processor wise and the 8gb of RAM is also a good ammount.

That depends on the PC. What brand and model? Any goodies inside? Nvidia Graphics card? Intel Processor? Candy and Rainbows? Come on, spill the beanies!
i found a pc for £395 and a moniter for £99.99 so it comesto around £495, is that good?

Pretty sure you have enough if the exchange rate is what i think it is XD

i may go for a pc depends on if i can build the shelving unit for it in my room but cheers guys, but what make of cheap-ish pc is the best because not only do i not want nor need lag but i want quite good graphics?
I would also add that if you really want to, you can save a fortune building a desktop piece by piece, but that does require a bit of computer knowledge (internet is obviously a good spot to find said knowledge). If you really want a laptop though, get a Sager.
... for 650 pounds you'll be hard-pressed to get a really decent gaming laptop, but you could get a KICKASS PC.
PCs are expandable & upgradable, laptops, not so much. A GOOD gaming laptop starts at around 1100 pounds, unfortunately (and that's at a warehouse price, in Canada... don't know what sort of rates you get where you are.) However, an EXCELLENT gaming PC starts at about 350 pounds... and you could spend the extra money on a gorgeous flatpanel monitor to go with it.
