Why are you asking about RAM...

Are you one of those people who think RAM is the only thing that matters?

Anyway I have a custom built:

i5 4670k @ stock speeds.
Gigabyte GTX 760
600w PSU CoolerMaster (Bad PSU brand, I know, but it hasn't blown up yet)
8 GB of RAM
Windows 8.1
Enermax Ostrog GT

Needless to say it maxes Minecraft easily. I can also get constant 60 on Extreme Render Distance. Should get more but Extreme lags like hell a lot. I've gotten like 7000 FPS before but that was with all on low and standing still in single player flatland

Custom One running windows 7

AMD Phenom II x4 @3.4GHz
Evga Gtx 580 1.5gb
Gigabyte 880gma usb3 mobo
8gb 1333mhz ram
1tb HDD
650w Seasonic m1211 psu
Cm scout case

I get about 150-200fps while using a 32x texture pack

Love the amount of people that are just quoting model names when a lot of the time there is a few different variations in each model especially laptops.

Intel Core i7 3770K @ 3.90Ghz (Overclocked)

Custom PC:
AMD 8100FX 8-core processor, 3.1GHz
12gb Vengeance RAM (DDR3)
Gigabyte Radeon HD 7870 3GB graphics card
Triple Compaq Q2022a monitors (Upgrading these relatively soon, after I get a mac)
Cooler Master HAF-X case (BEAST of a case)
256GB SSD for Windows 8.1 and main software
500GB storage drive for things I need quick access to (eg games)
250GB storage drive for code, which is synced with my server for backups.
Runs Minecraft at solid 120fps with a 70-strong modpack, no optifine.

Custom Laptop:
Optimus IV case w/ 17" screen (Made by nVidia)
nVidia GeForce GTX660m graphics card
6GB RAM (Can take up to 24gb though, will upgrade at some point)
64gb Solid State for Windows 7 HP
750gb Storage drive
Intel i7, I don't remember the exact model but it's one of the top mobile ones, a quad-core at around 2.8ghz I think.
(This was actually quite cheap for what you get. Cost me around £800 and shipped with 4gb RAM, but it's also pretty lightweight, very portable and has a 5-hour battery)
Generally get between 60 and 80 FPS, depending on what else is going on.

Custom server
Just my old PC which I converted really.
ASRock MoBo with AMD Athlon quadcore 2.8GHz processor
4GB DDR2 RAM (Unbranded)
4x 1TB hard drives
1x 500GB hard drive (Primary, running Ubuntu 12.04 server)
Housed in a generic cheap case, but quite cool with lots of fans as it's turned on 24/7 except when I'm away for more than a couple of days.
(Before you ask, yes it CAN run minecraft quite well as a server, but my net doesn't hold up to it. I use it as a backup and media server, it lets me listen to my music or watch films/TV shows from anywhere in the world )

I've also got a slightly older HP Pavillion micro-PC which will be used as a steambox when steamOS is released, and a few old macs lying around which are broken and worthless. Finally I rent a server which I actually DO use for minecraft.

Mac OS X, 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 4GB Memory with 1067 MHz DDR3. Runs like a baws on normal settings, and still kinda smooth on high, although I go down to 30 FPS at high.

Custom-built computer running Windows 7

4 GB DDR2 800 MHz RAM
512 MB GDDR3 400 MHz clock NVIDIA GPU

Gets 50+ FPS in Minecraft (typically 75+), almost a solid 80 (FPS cap) in Battlefront 2, almost constant 75 (FPS cap) in Halo, and gets 40+ in CoD: WaW.

What else would I need?

Probably a better GPU, but meh.

I also have a Dell laptop that dual-boots Windows and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, but its integrated graphics make it a no-no for any games other than OpenArena, Battlefront II, and Halo. It barely runs Minecraft. It's fantastic for most other things, though.
