Gaming PC
You got me. After almost 3 years of having my beautiful Alienware that's only just now deciding to die a little, I'm building a desktop. This is what I've got so far; would love your opinions / edits on it, but at the moment this is my final product.

WTFshadyCrankerManWTFshadyAn i7 isn't worth it if you don't want to overclock
every i5/7 xxxxK isn't worth buying if you don't oc
Nah, i5 4690k is cheaper than i5 4690, so your argument is invalid.
damn!
i have a 3560k and i'm not planning to rebuild my pc in a while so i didn't really take a look at the 4th gen yet
but about snowy's pc:
i'd recommend the zotac 970 amp extreme edition but it looks like they don't sell it down under
you could however consider the evga 970 ftw acx2.0 which is a bit faster for only ~20$ extra

An i7 isn't worth it if you don't want to overclock (you can go with a Xeon), but apparently you do, so here you go:

(The price is AUD, right? ) I lowered the price of some parts (motherboard, RAM, HDD, case) and managed to fit in better parts (144Hz monitor that you can use to play games on and a 80+ gold semi-modular PSU that will be more power efficient). The other parts were totally OK. If you want to spend some more and go up to $3100 AUD or so, you can go with this build that features a hexa-core i7 and DDR4 RAM.

Why are you getting this psu instead of the hx? the cx series is corsair's cheap line of psu's, and at that budget i'd get something better than a 80+ bronze. (I know i chose it for mine, but it was super cheap in my area.)
Dual 1440p screens w/ games in ultra settings; I'd rather have sli 970s than go for a 980. Also the build has been updated FYI:

If you're going sli right now, you should just get a 980. If you're just going to get a single 970, then save up in the future and get another, sure. Everything else is pretty baller. You could upgrade your monitors a bit at that budget if you were to save the money and get a single 980.
why don't you get a single 980 instead of sli 970's?
i heard sli causes lots of trouble with games even if the publishers say it's "supported".
and as previously said: you should have 16gb ram for rendering (3d or videos, doesn't matter)
my pc has 8gb ram and i experience how it's too less every weekend when my pc freezes because the ram usage is at 99% when rendering big scenes with c4d.

not if you're planning to play ubisoft games

NetworkPCE$2k is not exactly needed for a gaming PC, 1 GTX 970 is easily enough to run renders, and every game right now on the market with over 60fps on ultra settings.

I don't think you'll need a i7 unless you're doing alot of rendering
That is exactly what I'll be doing
That looks good, but I think it might be better to have 16gb of ram (2x8GB) as you have 2 GTX950 Cards
looks pretty cool
