I'm back with another song! [Updated with final instrumental
It's been a while since I've actually dedicated my time towards music (college and work take away a lot of ones time), but today, I just sat down and worked on a project that my friend inspired me to make. Backstory time - my friend is soon going to be making a Let's Play channel, and doesn't want to worry about copyright on music. So I agreed to make some tracks for the channel, since I enjoy making music. Thus, Project_VGM was born. this project is intended to capture the feel of a video game. The tracks are to range from things like "Overworld" and "Combat" to "Boss Fight." The first one I worked on is titled Boss_1, and is supposed to resemble the music behind an upbeat boss fight.

As one who works with acoustic instruments a bit as well (I play guitar, and am not half bad at piano), I can say it's not all that different. The only main difference is that the instruments are in the form of a synth program. I could make an acoustic arrangement of any of my songs if I wanted to (I actually have a song, an older one called Wake Up, where halfway through, it converts to a simplified piano arrangement. Another of mine, Interlude/Until the End, is a primarily piano piece, with synths doubling parts here and there).

On my pretty revealing headphones, I can tell there are some mastering issues. The higher registers sound pretty grainy and scratchy and it seems like there's a slight frequency bump in the middle-high frequencies. Overall nice selection of sounds and it has a very good flow, I especially like the sub bass lines.
Yeah, my good headphones actually broke a few months ago, so I'm stuck with stock Apple earbuds. Once I'm able to get a new pair, those issues will be gone.
EDIT: the bump in the mid-range also may be because of Maximus, an effects plugin I used. After I get my new pair of headphones, I'll remaster it (I already have a different mix planned that incorporates voice over audio).

Could be mixed a little better, however your synthesis and mastering are pretty darn good.
What software do you use? ive been wanting to make music but I dont know where to start.
For the sequencing and everything, I use FL Studio by Image-Line. For my synths and other various sounds, I use Native Instruments Massive. I also have a rather large library of .wav samples from the past couple years on the internet.
