I'm looking to make a texture pack, but im not sure where to start. For someone who has experience with texturing:
1. What's the best software to use and how do I start? Perhaps list a few.
2. Any tips you have for someone whose never made a texture?
3. How long do you think a texture will take for someone who hasn't done it before?

StormCoreFilmsHey,
I'm the creator of the LIFE texture pack and I make texture pack tutorials which cover the creation of HD textures for the game. I thought you might be interested in them as I designed them to help new creators begin making texture packs.
Here is the tutorial playlist:

Thanks, and I hope you like them!
I recommend Gimp or Paint.NET.

1. Paint.NET (free, DON'T GET MS PAINT) GIMP (free) and Adobe Photoshop (paid), but MC Skin 3d will be used for texture packs soon.
2. Learn how to shade and try to make a pack that is original. Do not make simple packs or stupid item edits.
3. GOOD texture packs take 2-6 months to finish, depending on resolution.
