Hi everyone here's a quick tip on how to easily edit armor model textures.
While photo editor apps like Photoshop or Paint.net are easily the best for most texture editing and creation, armor model textures can be quite confusing for new texture pack creators. To edit them much easier, you can actually upload the vanilla armor texture files to an online skin editor(i suggest the one at
minecraftskins.com) and edit them there(wrapped around a blank player model) using the pencil tool and color picker, and download your new "skin". Then just rename it to the original texture name, drag it into your texture pack, and BAM! You're done!

Nice tip. I think that's one of those things most people wouldn't expect to necessarily use the same UV layout, but it makes sense that it does so, as it's the same parts with a bit less territory.
it works though i discovered it while trying to make the armor models for my first pvp pack
